I think Becerra did the best job and looked the most like he could be governor. Porter had a surprisingly decent answer to the bad boss question and was second overall imo. Steyer seemed kind of weak and tired tbh. Mahan was a non-entity. And the two Republicans were atrocious. #CAGovDebate

"Mai Vang embodies today’s Sacramento. Doris Matsui does not."
The Sacramento Bee just endorsed Mai Vang to replace you.
You wouldn't even agree to talk to the local newspaper of record to discuss your candidacy for CA District 7.
I'm supporting Mai Vang.
The Bee: Mai Vang embodies today’s Sacramento. Doris Matsui does not. The Bee endorses Vang for a much-needed and historic changing of the guard for Sacramento in Washington. Read more at: https://www.sacbee.com/opinion/article315485515.html#storylink=cpy
Huge❗️
@maiforus.bsky.social just earned the Sacramento Bee’s endorsement—their first backing of a challenger in 20+ years!
Calling her a “people’s candidate” who embodies Sacramento today, when Matsui refuses to show up.
We stand with Mai who is ready to fight for working families.
Woohoo! A wells deserved endorsement. Go Mai!!!!!!
It’s all hands on deck!
With today’s SacBee endorsement, you can bet that Matsui’s corporate pac donors will be flooding the airwaves with ads, mail and paying for more texts.

Awful to see what has happened to the McClatchy group of newspapers since it filed for chapter 11 and was bought by a hedge fund. That happened in 2020. It’s now running a slop farm.
The hedge fund is Chatham Asset Managament. And guess what: they own two thirds of Postmedia.
Watch out Canada.
When Democrats had the majority in Congress and the White House, they could have stopped family separation, closed child prisons, and pass comprehensive immigration reform to protect our loved ones. Instead, they increased ICE's budget. 1/2
Screen print of X.com tweets from @CorbinBolies: “Some of McClatchy’s Pulitzer Prize-winning newsrooms are taking action. At least three unions - The Miami Herald, The Sacramento Bee, and the Kansas City Star - filed grievances against the company last week over the tool. Others have withheld their bylines. McClatchy’s execs don’t appear to mind reporters’ resistance. “We have every right to use their work,” one said in a meeting last month. “It belongs to us.” If they don’t have the ability in their contract to remove their byline, we’re going to use their name,” they said.” Read about the AI drama engulfing McClatchy here: https://www.thewrap.com/media-platforms/journalism/mcclatchy-content-scaling-agents-roiling-newsrooms/ /🧵

Screen print of X.com tweet from @CorbinBolies: The tool promises to be “a writing partner” that deals with “the mechanical work of content adaptation” so reporters can focus on judgment, voice, and storytelling.” The original stories fed into it are a “research draft.” What, the CSA doesn’t have? A byline. Image of CSA description: What CSA Does CSA is a writing partner that handles the mechanical work of content adaptation so journalists can focus on what matters: judgement, voice, and storytelling. You author the research draft. CSA helps format it for different audiences and platforms - each with the right tone, length and structure.

Exes at Sacramento Bee owner McClatchy are using their human reporters’ bylines on AI slop without reporters’ consent.
Readers won’t know what’s real and what’s fabricated. That’s not journalism. That’s corporate organized fraud.
Unions for Sac Bee, Miami Herald & Kansas City Star are suing. 🧵
Please retire, rep Matsui

Over 60 Democrats have signed on to HR 3565, the Block the Bombs Act, including many in the California delegation...
But Doris Matsui has not.
Calling for the destruction of an entire civilization isn't tough talk-- it's genocidal.
Future generations will ask what what we did when a US president openly threatens crimes against humanity. The time to answer that question is right now.

If you believe government should work for the people, not corporations—meet Mai Vang running for Congress in CA-7 against a 50-year political dynasty.
The daughter of Hmong refugees, raised on public assistance in Sacramento, and a lifelong organizer—Mai is the kind of leader we need right now.
It’s been fascinating to watch as SF’s local politics fought at close quarters with knives, Scott Wiener more or less went to Sacramento and developed a series of super weapons to destroy land use restrictions in California.
