"Abolishing fares makes public transport more attractive to drivers, to help get them out of their cars. It also gives instant support to public transport users, whose journeys are far less fuel-intensive", @farefreelondon.bsky.social says www.farefreelondon.org/posts/free-p...
How free public transport works in a French city. @farefreelondon.bsky.social article in the Ecologist today theecologist.org/2026/apr/08/...
Claims we have no power to impact what happens are nevertheless an intervention in what will happen, by discouraging participation, by encouraging passivity, surrender, acquiescence. If you insist that a given outcome is inevitable, you are lobbying against resistance.
How US-Israeli war gave Iran all the cards in the Middle East: ‘Tehran has established control over the Strait of Hormuz, while uniting the Arab world behind it - and crushing Netanyahu’s dreams of regional domination.’
Right now, there are tens of millions of Iranians waiting to find out if Donald Trump will exterminate their civilisation.
Absolutely hideous.
They need our solidarity.
The BBC just helped normalise nuclear extermination.
This is insane.

“What the hell can we do to get out of the catastrophe that is growing all around us?” My suggestions
Donald Trump is openly flaunting his war crimes.
There is no outrage.
We are descending into barbarism 👇

The results are in. Universal free public transport, introduced in Montpellier in southern France in December 2023, is proving to be a runaway success.Read our summary of reports in the French press www.farefreelondon.o...

An interview for Commons (Ukraine) with Adam Hanieh. "The two main pillars of American power in the Middle East have been Israel, on one side, and the Gulf monarchies, in particular Saudi Arabia, on the other. The US has sought to knit together these two pillars" commons.com.ua/en/spravedly...
With fuel prices soaring due to the war in the Gulf, authorities in Victoria (Australia) and Tasmania have decided to make public transport free for the whole of April. Because they know that it helps people switch away from cars.
Igor has been sent to a punishment cell & declared a "malicious offender". He is serving 8.5 years, after painting his face the colours of Ukraine's flag & firebombing the stone porch of a security services building, doing no damage or injury.

Thanks. You're right: our public transport in London is better than elsewhere in UK. But it's v v expensive for low income households, & it's not "green", it's part of a car-centred system that's trashing clinate targets.

London's car-centred transport policies wreck efforts to address climate change and undermine the city's own emissions reduction targets. Drastic action is needed, including free public transport and big investment in active travel. My article in @theecologist.org theecologist.org/2026/mar/18/...
Some points for discussion about the war, from me
Good article by @simonpirani.bsky.social about a #CCS proposal used to legitimise yet another dirty waste incinerator in Kent: theecologist.org/2026/mar/05/... .

They say projects using non-pipeline transport, such as Cory’s ships, should not be considered. "A government consultation on non-pipeline transport, running until Friday, 1 May 2026, could further frustrate Cory." 3/3 @greenwich.greenparty.org.uk @victoriarance.bsky.social @karinlt.bsky.social
Anyone who wants to take action on this dangerous technofix please note: "officials at the Competition and Markets Authority have, potentially, thrown a spanner in the works with their 2024 report on the Waste Industrial Carbon Capture scheme". 2/3 @drandrewboswell.bsky.social @hynotnw.bsky.social
Thanks to @theecologist.org for using a version of my article about the insane, damaging plan to fit carbon capture technology to waste incinerators at Belvedere. 1/3

"Cory claims it will generate electricity to power 371,000 homes, but is more likely to put less than half of that into the grid [...] incinerator expansion will encourage local authorities to send waste for burning that could be avoided or recycled". peopleandnature.wordpress.com/2026/03/02/c...
Today, fares for tube, rail and DLR journeys in London will go up by 6% (and so will journeys by River Bus and the cable car across the Thames). Putting public transport fares up in London is a political choice and it’s the wrong one.
