Probably the oddest way to identify a donor in a headline is to not name them, but to name another person.

Just want to remind all the #Jays fans out there that it is early & a lot of random stuff can happen.
So it’s been fine up till now, but if the #Jays lose tonight then all hope is probably lost.

And this is the sort of democratic backsliding that is contagious. If Alberta does this without problems, other governments will consider it too.
Elections are about people choosing their representatives, not politicians choosing their voters. Yet that is what the UCP is planning. It is planning to deliberately disenfranchise urban voters. Red Deer and Lethbridge would not exist as autonomous political entities. Calgary/Edmonton hurt too.
There is a reason that we do not have MLAs decide on electoral boundaries. Tossing out the Electoral Boundaries Commission and replacing it with a UCP-dominated committee is not just a bad idea. It is really bad for democracy. Ask the US, ask Hungary. This is not normal!
GoJames!
Please show unwavering support for independent Electoral Bounday Commissions.
The alternative is to have politicians drawing boundaries that they prefer - like in the US.
This would be a huge step backward for democracy.

I think that is just how Chris talks.
He is always saying "Coldplay Rock Band Group", and I always say "Chris, you can just say Coldplay Rock Band".
Incredible sequel. Edge of my seat!
Despite the fact the NDP has a longstanding policy on it,
& despite the fact the CPC is currently super angry about it,
I would like to register my prediction that we will never see a day when an MP must resign in order to cross the floor in Parliament.
& that will be a good thing.
I think some folks may not understand/accept that it’s pretty much all self-interest all the way down. Every MP is acting in self-interest on a daily basis.
That’s how they attained the most votes in the first place.
Everyone’s vote is also self-interested, so don’t feel bad about it.
MPs are not voting machines.
When they cross the floor, or resign from cabinet, or vote against party lines, they are representing constituents and providing a vital check on leadership.
Party leaders are powerful enough as it is. Taking such tools away reduces accountability between elections.

But John Hogan suddenly saying “folks should care about it in THIS case.”
The Liberals can rot in Political Donation Hell for all I care about what a single one of them says about this.
I said yesterday that I can’t believe this donation system remains legal in 2026, yet I think it’s true that folks just do not care that much
