Been trying to figure out the best chip and board to use to program the SPI chip on my ASRock Rack AMPONED8-2T using the BIOS_PH1 header.
I’ve decided on the NUCLEO-F767ZI for now since it seems capable and affordable for anyone wanting to do the same.

Wow, what a week!
On Wednesday morning I joined a livestream on the Arm Office Hours.
I don’t do presentations or live speaking: I think the last presentation I gave was in 2016 and that was just to my team. So going live with 40 people was a big deal for me! Everything went well!
Join us for Arm Developer Office hours with @bexcran.bsky.social to learn how to build high-performance Arm developer desktops, designed for speed, scale, and native workflows. 👨💻

i would suggest an online safety act that can’t deal with CSAM on a widely used social network frequented by most westminster public figures isn’t doing a very good job of keeping anybody safe online

Pretty cool when defunct railway tracks still shape the layout of properties and buildings
Three days left on the "Networking for System Administrators" #kickstarter. Every #sysadmin should know what's in this book.
Last chance to get the special edition, yes, but also the first chance to get the ebook or paperback!

I would appreciate your support.
An author of systemd erotica is found stabbed in the neck with a corkscrew. Suspicion falls on Burwood Mantle’s ordinand, deeply concerned that the resurgence of vinyl LPs might threaten the closure of Midsomer’s borders.
Judging from the last few days of vitriolic comments and messages, it seems that me referring to Israel's occupation and blockade of Gaza as "genocide" is quite controversial and I've even been accused of antisemitism. So let me explain myself: 🧵
I didn't just decide this based on my own feelings.
Until recently, the long-running British show was too often content with iteration. Actor Ncuti Gatwa brought an unapologetic queerness to the character of the Doctor.

Such a pretty view of the Salt Lake valley on my way home this evening. I’m so lucky to live here!
I often see this guy running along my fence. I guess there’s a stash of food there!
Occasional reminder that there’s no, “it’s too late, its over” for anthropogenic climate change. Every molecule of CO2 that doesn’t go into the atmosphere makes a difference. Preventing 0.1 degree of warming makes a difference. Every bit of climate resilience we build together makes a difference.
Photo of a full size rack on a pallet outside a house.
Just got reminded of this week in 2017 when I had my rack delivered. 😂
“Look what got delivered on Thursday! Now I just need to take it apart to get all 300lb down to my basement. Oops!”

Fwiw, go check your settings. There’s a good chance you were “opted in” to this new sorting by default
Yeah, it would be really nice to go outside without worrying about the pollution from industry/cars/etc. or the toxic dust from the GSL damaging my health.

What’s the best way to communicate with you about Secure Boot issues I come across: Email? Or is there some IM system you prefer?
aria2c (a metalink downloader client) output on Linux showing status reports: first at 97MB/s, second at 95MB/s, and the overall speed at 78MB/s.
Just downloaded openSUSE Leap 15.6 at an average of 78MB/s, with most of the download going at over 95MB/s! 🤯

Profile of Oxide Computer Company with a label ‘Invalid Handle’ where the Bluesky handle should be.
Huh, strange. Oxide’s profile shows an invalid handle.
I just learned about the Linux tool "powerprofilesctl launch" which runs a command and pins the power profile to 'performance' while it's running (by default - you can also tell it to pin the power-saving profile).

Ooh I’ve not heard much about coupling since university when we learned ‘high cohesion, low coupling’ - then I went to work writing .NET apps where the main UI class had lots of public methods that got called to update controls from all over the place. 😖
It is worth learning indigenous and endangered languages, even if they aren’t “useful.” We don’t make art because it’s “useful.” We don’t meet a friend for coffee because it’s “useful.” We do these things because they enrich our lives.

Did you get too much attention on Twitter after that? You seemed to disappear for a while.
Screenshot explaining that the Tesla Model 3 scored the highest rating in the Euro NCAP tests.
It’s probably complicated by the fact that the cars do score very highly in crash safety tests. Also, unfortunately cars from other manufacturers are being built with these electronic door mechanisms too. Hopefully the manual latches are more logical though.

Unfortunately it might be the result of a regulation requiring laminated glass in all windows to reduce ejections in rollover crashes. The 2020 model she drove had a manual door release on the inside (but a button on the outside).

Back windows on new cars are often laminated glass due to a new regulation (in the US) to reduce ejections in rollover crashes. I checked mine and all windows are laminated so I’m giving away my window break tool since it’s useless!
And if you’re crap at soldering like I am you can even have them assembled for an extra cost, too!
Sometimes I don't understand why YouTube's algorithm doesn't recommend a video more widely.
@idlehandsdev.bsky.social made a banger this month, it should have a lot more views: www.youtube.com/watch?v=dZ4I...
