Usually I work alone but this week I’ve got an assistant. 😆💀💀💀

Ah that'd be the dream wouldn't it, I'd have had a book out of that, let alone a blog. 😆 A fantastic man though, and from my own experience, not aware of his own charisma and importance whatsoever. 👍
Absolutely, I think he'd already done 'zoo quest' before I was even born. 😮
Thanks! I thought it would be interesting for people to read about my long connection with Sir David and his influence on a little lad from West Bromwich. 🙂
Thanks, I thought it offered an insight, and even folks who didn't know me, or my work, would see how someone can (as you say) ignite a passion that pushes you along in different directions. 🙂
Photos of David Attenborough, one with me briefly meeting him in 2011, and a couple of photos of his signature.
On May the 8th, Sir David Attenborough will be 100 years old. Like so many people, he's been an inspiration as far back as I can remember, so I've added my own little tribute to the many I'm sure he'll receive in the coming weeks. 🙂
It's here ⬇️

Absolutely Sue, I've spent years seeing creativity happen through art, music, drama, and dance. Which can be as much about what comes out, as what's being crammed into the brain! Improvisation, 'feel', energy, innovation, imagination, not everything comes from simply regurgitating what's been fed.
😂 I thought it looked like it had just spun its head around, real 'action' shot.
Such a lovely little school Sue, might be hard for people to believe but the painting on these was the KS1 kids who finished everything off. 😮😁
Bee sculptures made by the Year 2 pupils from Purbrook Infant School. The photos show some of the different stages. The children drew, constructed, strengthened, and coloured these sculptures in just one day.
I've been at Purbrook Infant School today, helping the Year 2 children to create 3D bees!
Even kids this young can create sophisticated results if you break things right down. The children did every part of these, drawing, construction and colour. 🙂

3D bird sculptures created by the children from Hatherop Primary school in Gloucestershire. Every child, from Reception to Year 6 took part, creating the four birds that their classes are named after, a Skylark, a Barn Owl, a Red Kite, and a Kingfisher.
Here’s some lovely bird sculptures created this week, in just one day, by the children from Hatherop Primary in Gloucestershire. Every child in this little school has taken part, working together to make the 4 birds which their classes are named after.

They look like they are really enjoying this. 😁
Two Easter Island Moai (statues) made from recycled cardboard tubes.
Today is #WorldArtDay . . . I spend much of my time demonstrating just how accessible art can be. You don’t need expensive tools, or a mountain of materials, you just need time and imagination.

Glad you both had a nice time. 😎
Thanks! There's a fair bit to see there. 😆
😆 You won't fool me, I was stood right next to this sand box for two whole days 👀
Happy to help if I can Jon, drop me a message if you like.
We're blown away by how brilliant this looks! It's been a pleasure, as always, having Darrell come down and what a fantastic piece you guys have helped us make to celebrate 25 years of the Jurassic Coast!
Thanks to all who took part and we can't wait to see what Darrell helps us with next time.
Images from the last two days work at Charmouth Heritage Coast Centre. Photos show families joining in the making, the finished artwork and individual piece, including the small model of the Centre which I made myself.

I've had an amazing two days at the very special Charmouth Heritage Coast Centre, where visiting children have helped me to commemorate 25 years of the 'Jurassic Coast' by creating this 3D display.
A truly collaborative effort!

Loved it, great to catch up with some familiar faces and to meet many new ones too. Looking forward to tomorrow. 🙂
Me too, I'd have loved this! 😆👍
You have to make sure you get the tides right, try to get out when the tide is dropping, so you're the first people to see that area of the beach, get your feet wet, and don't go up under the cliffs where the idiots look. 😆
Photos from today's ammonite-making workshop at Lyme Regis Museum, showing a spiral template, some of the children's 3D ammonites, and a large, real ammonite fossil which is on display there.
(2) Show me a better way to connect art, science, and history. The 70+ children that joined in today all took something special away with them, not just their own artwork, but a connection with our human history, and a much deeper connection to a past long since gone.

A photo from today's workshop at Lyme Regis Museum. The image shows the hands of a young girl and her dad busy making their own ammonite.
(1) Creating art based on fossils at Lyme Regis Museum is a little bit like doing a project on the Ancient Egyptians, in a tomb, with the pyramids just outside. Today, we worked on the site of Mary Anning's workshop, with many of her actual discoveries in the room next door . . .

Ah thanks. That’s kind. I’m hibernating but in a good way. 😆👍
A small cardboard version of the Charmouth Heritage Centre building on the Dorset coast.
I'm back at one of my favourite haunts next week. 😮
On Wednesday and Thursday I'll be at the Charmouth Heritage Centre, celebrating their 25th birthday by building a special display piece. I've been busy constructing a small model of the centre. 😁👍

What would 'pinna' be here Tom, I recognise the others.
Looks great. Every day is cardboard day this end. 😆😎
Yeah I replied on a different post about this, I think many people who work with different kids every day eventually discover ways of connecting quickly that work, whether that's teachers, nurses, police etc, I think strategies start to form through repetition, especially if you are quite aware. 👍
Hopefully, I always think building a simple, honest relationship with them makes them feel more secure and if they are bothered by something, they are then more likely to tell you and trust that you will listen. 🙂
