I do think something like the article mentioned where you use a card or number sort of like collateral for using the bathroom means that those with less can also spend less to use something they need more than others may need due to being housed

Something I've been thinking a lot about regarding 1 is that calling people out is liable to get you in a fight or shot in this country. There's less and less people willing to say, "back of the line bub" when people are being antisocial out of fear of violence

It strikes me personally that these systems are
1. In lieu of the kind of human interaction that would normally keep us behaving
2. Downstream of many, many things we refuse to tackle at a systemic level like poverty, trust in systems, and isolation

I was paying $1800 a year on insurance alone for my car. Selling it was like a burden off my shoulders that I can now put toward owning a home one day. Cycling has also allowed me to notice the scent of springtime flowers and become intimately familiar with every crack in the road and house along it

Yeah there's a whole process for right of way and whatnot, but generally trains aren't as noisy as one might imagine. Also building housing knowing its near a train does wonders to alleviate that problem. Many things to consider for sure, I am just glad they're finally taking some steps!

This is true, but we spend billions on highways as it is, why not just shift it to rail?

I think a yucca that's beginning to flower out of the top. It's cute.

The yucca (I'm pretty sure it's a yucca) in my yard is getting a flower and I'm very excited about it!

Getting an email about the SAVE plan being ended, looking at my student loan plans and estimated monthly payments does make me want to die on this here Monday.

How am I supposed to live, laugh, love in these conditions

What often goes unmentioned is how expensive it is to administer and prevent "fraud" of means-tested programs as opposed to just letting everyone use it. Insane take from America's Preeminent toilet paper brand.

Rich people get everything handed to them on a plate already! Subsidies, tax breaks, influence. Giving them free day care is small potatoes and will do so much good for *everyone*.
Extremely silly they're rehashing the student loan forgiveness argument that failed already during the Biden admin

what next? what, are we gonna provide *roads* for the wealthy too? gonna have health inspectors keep contaminants out of their groceries? are we just gonna have gutters and sewer systems around rich people's homes?

Find Your Councilor Learn who represents you on the Albuquerque City Council.

The City of #ABQ just released their proposed budget and it includes a 14% budget cut for transit and axing 52 positions at ABQ Ride.
Doing this in the midst of an energy crisis is unbelievably short-sighted and terrible. We need to BOLSTER transit, not defund it! Speak up for Transit Burque!!

Metro to metro travel should be fast, easy, and ecologically sustainable. That last part something that airlines cannot or will not be able to accomplish.

I'm of the opinion that caring so much about "Choice Riders" is just more classism wanting to not be uncomfortable seeing the kind of wealth disparity that comes from our current system.
Yes we need more people using transit
Yes it needs to be competitive
No you don't need to be weird about it

Trader Joe’s via Dragon Arroyo Visitors asking us locals down here in ABQ's South Valley "How do I get to Trader Joe's?" are met with that human equivalent of the quizzical turn of the dog's head. "Huh?" is the typical South Valley response, as it is for questions regarding: Whole Foods Thai food Indian food A bagel place That crêpe place, the one that lathers on really good homemade lingonberry…
