I'm proud to introduce two resolutions calling on NYS to take climate action 💪🏽: one making packaging producers pay for recycling and the other demanding NYS restrict Con Ed’s proposal to limit battery energy storage systems in NYC.
Three years ago we passed the Zero Waste Act, committing the city to ambitious environmental goals.
With the passage of my bill, Intro 355, every city agency must now compost their organic waste, just like everyday New Yorkers already do.

The numbers are in and they are damning: 62% of NYers can’t afford to live here. The median white household holds 15x the wealth of the median Black household.
The True Cost of Living report & Racial Equity Plan show the affordability crisis is a racial justice crisis.
Millions of NYC workers are working 2-3 jobs and still can’t afford rent. Record homelessness. Historic poverty. And a $17/hr minimum wage that doesn’t cut it.
My bill, #30ForOurCity, would create a $30/hr min wage by 2030.

When budgets are starved, agencies can't recruit talent, enforce the law, or meet their legal mandates.
As we negotiate a final city budget, we cannot balance the books by sidelining New Yorkers’ civil rights.

The message was clear: the agencies responsible for protecting NYers from discrimination & advancing racial equity are being chronically underfunded, weakening enforcement when people need it most.

This morning, I chaired my first hearing as Chair of the Committee on Civil and Human Rights focused on budgeting for equity.
It remains unclear and unlikely that the FY27 budget will be informed by the Racial Equity Plans, as required by our city's charter.
In the spirit of a new era of governance at city hall, we urge the administration to right the wrongs of our former Mayor and release the legally-mandated racial equity plan
