more or less yes. The grind is usually masking a deep seated and unexamined assumption there's a lot messed up and everything needs to be better, fuel that drives the grind. Abundance starts from an assumption of there is either already enough or easily could be

when it hits and you're in public trying to look normal
looks like an interesting book. Will check out! Did you by chance run across "Is it True, What they Say about the Masons?" by Arturo de Hoyos? (I'm a Freemason, it's a common cite for us when discussing your topic)
perhaps the difference is individual, personalized feelings (love) vs. externally verifiable / "material reality" / social construct things (you will lose your job, and $1,000). One scales very easily to mass groups.
don't wanna participate in dogpiling negativity on *any* topic X, like I don't want to participate in a group bullying session of a person (even if I dislike that person). Build context/empathy/positive agenda, person by person, brick by brick. Slow but worth it.
for as beautiful as humanity is this is just one of the things we do. I don't know of a better way to deal with it other than simply: focus time & energy on the things you want to see more of
for one negative emotion is more salient than positive. Threat of loss better for motivating people than hopes of gain. We gotta lotta us vs. them going on now, threat is easy to summon (they're taking your jobs, your reproductive rights, etc. etc)
if what your group agrees on is *too specific and tight* you get schisms. If it's too loose/vague, you don't really stand for much or have much identity. Ontological commitment is a goldilocks problem
it takes a lot more (yes vision) but also leadership, vibecrafting, messaging, agendabuilding, etc in order to assert something positive. This is often a downfall of revolutions that blow up the system with no replacement ideas. It's really, really hard.
I think one of the reasons why this happens is that "against X" is the simplest form of social cohesion you can muster. Easier to get disparate groups of people to agree, because what they agree on is minimal
never heard of movieswag. It's a good idea
same same. Sometimes it's intermittent, this AM for me it's unusable
God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can, and a dog that does karate
Dave Barry used to refer to foods like these and many others (like Cheesy Poofs) as
"Approved for Use on Humans, meeting minimum federal qualifications for armpit hair"
yet inductively, the same is true of great^n kids too, is it not? š¤
perhaps we should save and invest perpetually, carefully keeping gains, just to maximize optionality š
shudders of EA longtermism there. Technically there will be more great-great grandkids than children, so yeah, allocating resources to children is kinda irrational when you think about it.
"too many concurrent writes" is a database's way of saying to a software engineer: "you did bad and you should feel bad"
somebody's database is deeply disappointed in the developers, not you

the egregore doesn't even know where the egregore wants to go
cloud services are like beer: when they're good, they're really, really good.
And when they're bad hey at least they're still better than Natty Ice/Azure
Azure: the Natty Ice of the Cloud
Twitter. And BlueSky. And the Internet. And culture. And society. And The Simpsons
gah I don't even know what the hell you're talking about, I'm just hate looking for some link to click
I am tired
seems to me that the reality of social media just boils down to the brutal calculus of "where my peeps at". If all your circle is on EvilApp where the CEO mulches puppy dogs or whatever we're suspecting of him this week, well then ig we talk about how evil he is on EvilApp?
it's probably out of its newest "omg the thing was just released" days. New ppl will still get this jolt of excitement for a week or two I suppose
it's absolutely wonderful to know & realize that new relationships will form here. Bsky feels like a party I don't have the time to attend, most days
information overload, distraction, and attention fragmentation was a MAJOR PROBLEM before bsky came about
and adding another network is probably not the thing that's going to help me
I buy the decentralization and "let's make progress on social media" thing and I really genuinely wish everyone well, the reality is just that my network isn't particularly here, but also...
and I can't shake the feeling that as the network grows and celebs pile in and people write news articles it becomes "just another social network" with fewer features, but also...
