perhaps the difference is individual, personalized feelings (love) vs. externally verifiable / "material reality" / social construct things (you will lose your job, and $1,000). One scales very easily to mass groups.

don't wanna participate in dogpiling negativity on *any* topic X, like I don't want to participate in a group bullying session of a person (even if I dislike that person). Build context/empathy/positive agenda, person by person, brick by brick. Slow but worth it.

if what your group agrees on is *too specific and tight* you get schisms. If it's too loose/vague, you don't really stand for much or have much identity. Ontological commitment is a goldilocks problem

it takes a lot more (yes vision) but also leadership, vibecrafting, messaging, agendabuilding, etc in order to assert something positive. This is often a downfall of revolutions that blow up the system with no replacement ideas. It's really, really hard.

I think one of the reasons why this happens is that "against X" is the simplest form of social cohesion you can muster. Easier to get disparate groups of people to agree, because what they agree on is minimal
