SDNYC issued the following statement: “The rights of trans. New Yorkers are not up for debate. Trans, gender non-conforming, and non-binary New Yorkers and their allies have been fighting for protections for decades. As a result of that work, trans rights have been codified in New York City laws, New York State laws, and the New York State Constitution. That’s just one of the reasons New York is a beacon of hope for trans people and trans youth around the world. While Eric Adams may cave to Donald Trump on core New York values, New Yorkers won’t.”

Most notably, the former governor skipped a mayoral forum cohosted by the Stonewall Democratic Club of NYC, Lambda Independent Democrats of Brooklyn and other LGBTQ+ clubs in March. And he declined to partake in the clubs’ candidate questionnaires and interviews. 2/2

Cuomo was a same-sex marriage champion. He’s not courting LGBTQ+ votes now. The front-runner in the New York City mayoral primary snubbed LGBTQ+ political clubs, who shunned him in turn.

Andrew Cuomo counts same-sex marriage among top accomplishments, but he’s not targeting LGBTQ+ voters ... He’s taken a Rose Garden approach to campaigning and limited his appearances, which has contributed to cutting out crucial Democratic clubs that help drive LGBTQ+ voters to polls. 1/2

The @sdnyc.bsky.social was the first LGBTQ+ club in New York City, and have been at the forefront of so many wins in LGBTQ+ rights. I’m so proud to have their support.

With Trump threatening our city's LGBTQ+ community, New Yorkers need a mayor unafraid to stand up for them.

Proud to receive the endorsement of @jimowlesclub.bsky.social, @sdnyc.bsky.social, and Lambda Independent—three clubs that have led the fight for equality and justice.

Amidst the shameful homophobic and transphobic attacks from the White House, uplifting District 39’s vibrant LGBTQ+ community is one of my core priorities. Today, I’m thrilled to pass my bill the Affirm Act to protect trans healthcare and announce the support of the historic @sdnyc.bsky.social !

New York must lead in response to national attacks on the trans community. Money speaks louder than words: Give trans led organization funding they need to support the LGBTQ community.

We are proud to stand with @sdnyc.bsky.social and NYC Pride and Power to demand that NYS step up for gender affirming care and other key supports for transgender New Yorkers and trans people moving here from more oppressive places. NY needs to be a safe haven! spectrumlocalnews.com/nys/central-...

A screenshot of a multi‐column table listing several U.S. presidential Executive Orders relating to LGBTQ+ rights and antidiscrimination policies. Each row has columns for “Origin” (POTUS), “Number/Identifier” (e.g., EO 13988), “Title” (such as Preventing and Combating Discrimination…), “Action Type” (e.g., Broad Nondiscrimination, Military Nondiscrimination), “Summary” (key points of each order), and “Date Signed.” The listed orders span from early 2021 through early 2025, covering topics like preventing discrimination based on gender identity or sexual orientation, banning conversion therapy, rescinding prior harmful EOs, and restricting or expanding DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) initiatives.

A spreadsheet at the top shows columns tracking anti‐LGBTQ bills by status and year: total bills (334), 2025 bills (327), 2024 rollovers (7), how many passed committees (3), passed one chamber (5), passed both chambers (0), enacted (1), vetoed (0), failed (3), and carried forward (0). Below that, another header row lists different types of anti‐LGBTQ legislation (e.g., gender‐affirming care bans, pronoun bans, “Don’t Say Gay,” drag bans, bathroom bans) with the total count of each category (e.g., 55 for gender‐affirming care bans, 20 for pronoun bans, 14 for “Don’t Say Gay,” etc.). A color‐coded U.S. map spans the lower half, with states shaded from light orange to deep red according to how many anti‐LGBTQ bills they contain. Texas appears in the darkest red (46 bills), with lighter shades indicating fewer bills in other states. A note at the bottom right explains that the map shows total tracked bills per state, which does not necessarily reflect each bill’s likelihood of passage.

We've created a tracker that covers all executive orders affecting LGBTQ folks along with federal and state legislation.

We're at 334 anti-LGBTQ bills.

"[Adams' self-prostration to Trump] is pretty pathetic. Instead of standing up for New Yorkers, he's groveling at the feet of fascists," [SDNYC President Gabriel] Lewenstein said. "It feels like a pretty embarrassing last ditch attempt to save himself."

The organization achieves these goals by supporting well qualified candidates for local, state, and national office, and by supporting and lobbying for our civil rights, legislative agenda, healthcare, information and education, and for funding for our institutions and organizations.
