strange these op-eds about women being too angry have all come out the last few days when during the same time there's also been a massive investigation published on an online rape academy with millions of viewers a month and none of them have bothered to even cover it, even as news

Gonna spend the next two years spamming every elected Dem about the concept of "damnatio memoriae." Chisel his name off every inscription. Build over the various Trump Towers like they're Nero's Golden House. Remove him from physical memory, not to forget but as a sign of disrespect to the man.
We already KNOW how to make super babies, you eugenicist creeps! And it's all the things you fucking fucks are fucking up! THREAD!
Cover of report "Mission Aborted: how NASA illegally implemented the president's budget request without congressional approval. Minority staff report, prepared by members of the committee on science, space, and technology, us house of representatives, April 2026
This report came out today by minority staff of the House science committee on how three NASA missions were aborted due to NASA illegally following the FY26 president's budget request instead of congressionally approved budget. Very important reading. 🔭🧪 democrats-science.house.gov/staff-report...
I feel so seen: "The larger problem is that car dependency makes the costs of cars invisible — you don’t see the health impacts, the social isolation as directly caused by cars. They’re just “how things are.” Which makes it incredibly hard to build political will to change..."
Dear Pope Leo,
If you excommunicate JD Vance, I will return to the church.
Lapsed Catholic,
Parker
incredible that the lifelong Catholic in this specific situation is The Pope
I would watch a reboot of The X-Files that starred Lucy Dacus and Janelle Monáe
“In early 2027, we’re going to be taking a look at the municipal development plan. Once we get that done, we can move on to finalizing the updated zoning bylaw,” said Coun. DJ Kelly, who represents Ward 4. “That’s likely the place where you’re going to see more of these changes occurring, which means we basically have about 12 months to 18 months.” As of August, more than 300,000 residential properties will revert back to the zoning rules that were in place until 2024.
So the thing about repealing before replacing is that there is no incentive for anti-density councillors to accept any densification in the Zoning Bylaw. Which is why it was important to keep blanket rezoning while making some amendments to the Land Use Bylaw. www.ctvnews.ca/calgary/arti...
little women (2019) is such a great movie, it's such a shame that the costumes suck so bad
Sometimes I think about this tweet.
Why did Viktor Orban lose the Hungarian election? Because he became too woke.
Anyone who noticed the hex HILLBILLY ELEGY put on Amy Adams’ career already saw this coming.
Once you see how absurdly submissive men are with each other you cannot unsee it. It's why they expect it of us, it's what they give their dominants, and they think it's their due from everyone else.
My most boring thought about this is wondering how much people in the past were lying about how happy they were because to admit being unhappy was to admit failure and now some people at least are more comfortable admitting that maybe things aren't so great
The teaching part isn't just getting a student an answer, it's helping them think critically about what they are trying to figure out and how to ask the Qs that will get them to the correct answer or relevant resource. The journey is as important as the destination. You can't outsource that.
"Turns out students aren't great at asking questions well." No fucking shit. Literally any educator could tell you that. 90% of my job as a high school librarian is trying to figure out what kids actually want versus what question they asked.
we should have a third industry besides AI and gambling
and @jeromyyyc.bsky.social campaigned on... restoring the bureaucratic load to city hall 🙃
for everyone who isn't from calgary, we are fighting over whether we should be able to build townhouses and row houses
before blanket rezoning, 97% of applications to build townhouses and row houses were approved by city council. blanket rezoning just reduces the bureaucratic load
Ward 7 Coun. Myke Atkinson says the public wants fixes to construction impacts and build form - he says those fixes are needed even if citywide rezoning is repealed. Ward 7 has seen the most development permits from citywide rezoning at 165.
Ward 3 Coun. Andrew Yule says he was swayed towards both sides of the issue during the public hearing. He thanks Ward 3 residents for presenting. He says like it or not, the previous council added certainty and land rights across the city through citywide rezoning.
isn't rezoning a tool? isn't rezoning a housing strategy?
"oxytocin" is abbreviated as OXT, and "obesity" as OB. it reduces readability, does not change word count, and only reduces character count. twitter has rotted our brains
reading a paper that abbreviates "healthy controls" as HC. i'm generally anti-carceral but for this, i think the authors should serve jail time
Mind you, federal income taxes are the lowest they’ve been in generations AND we have the biggest income and wealth gap since the Napoleonic Wars AND the social safety net in America is an absolute shambles
Y'all there is a woman and a black man circling the moon and NASA's mission control+ science teams are so diverse and people are nerding out about science and exploration this is all a gigantic middle finger to the stupid and hate and grotesque ghouls running our country
This is the only way to get better bike infrastructure and maintenance.
The people in power have to actually bike (and not just an annual photo op)
So, thing that is apparently better understood inside academia than outside of it:
International students pay sticker price. Most domestic students do not. International students are subsidizing the education costs for domestic students, as per student governmental funding drops.
