Great to see South Pasadena Residents for Responsible Growth back in action.

You can just not do things.
Agreed. I don’t understand why AHLA ever endorsed Durazo. She’s been one of the most ardent opponents of housing in the legislature.
Check out approvals per year. The local NIMBYs didn't experience a change of heart. They've just been shunted to the side thanks to the HAA, SDBL, and RHNA.
Yes, exactly right. I follow Santa Monica the most. Production has gone from less than 200/yr to 500+, with a real possiblity of cracking 1,000 soon.
It's not enough - IZ and transfer taxes remain a huge drag. But there's now real progress, and it would not have happened without YIMBY wins.
My favorite is the ADU guy who talks about YIMBYs not understanding his business of building ADUs.
Yeah, we’re at $500 per month and we‘re not building reserves. Insurance has been a killer recently. Our annual premiums have tripled in the last 4 years.

You also can’t appeal to a rules based order that doesn’t exist. Ukraine sees an opportunity to draw in more US support. Fine by me. Plus, Iran has been aiding Russia’s war on Ukraine for years. Ukraine arguably has more casus belli than almost anybody.
Over the past 5-10 years, blue states have continually ratcheted tax rates higher but then spend the money on things few notice while basic services (policing, sanitation, etc.) have gotten far worse. It's not surprising that this leads to many deciding that high tax rates are no longer worth it.
I agree that ULA should be repealed completely but it’s annoying that the way they’re going about this is by attacking Nithya Raman who is the most pro-housing candidate for Mayor we’ve had in decades.
I think a significant number are just not very bright. But I’ve also been told that groups like AAGLA do not want to see Nithya’s ULA reform succeed because they believe it will kill any attempt at additional reform and they’ll be stuck with transfer taxes on their old dingbats forever.
Remember when we banned restaurants from serving water without request?

TIL that growing alfalfa and hay uses more than 30% of all water from the Colorado River. Industry and residential are only 18%. So every time you’re told to take a shorter shower, it’s so the cows have some more food (which can be grown elsewhere no problem).

Climate change, yes, but March 2026 felt even more severe. Like I think this was the type of March we could expect in 2080, not 2026.
The @calendow.bsky.social astro turf opposition to this project is really unfortunate.
Completely depends on the shoe and the runner. I burn through Saucony Kinvaras in ~200-250 miles. My Brooks Ghosts easily last 400-450 miles.
Prescient post.
I don’t think it’s really sunk in yet that the Iran War has shifted from “unnecessary war” to “war which we may lose and which will dramatically expand Iran’s power“.

This is a INCREDIBLY pro-housing bill. Passing this would completely unlock the condo market, making homeownership affordable for hundreds of thousands - maybe millions - of California families who can’t afford to buy today. Best bill of the year by a mile.
Nope. But fits with the way policy is made in LA. We do nothing unless absolutely everyone is happy.
Worst Big City Mayor in America. Not even close.
Me and a certain former City of Culver City City Councilmember have been accused of being CIA Right ourselves.
The software made no mistake. It stopped, saw other cars were proceeding, asked for help, and the human said go.
You know exactly what you were trying to do with your post. You were trying to portray this as a self-driving issue when the NTSB report found that it was a human error issue.
Read the article, IMO.
bsky.app/profile/aaro...
It was humans - not the software - at fault.
“The NTSB said the Waymo stopped for the bus but then other vehicles passed the bus, which prompted the Waymo to ask a human remote assistance operator if it was "a school bus with active signals?" and the agent said no, and then Waymo passed the bus.”
Lmao
An endorsement is not a reward. It’s a stamp of approval the signals a candidate is aligned with an organization. Either AHLA messed up here, or they’re not pro-housing. One of the two.
Have you listened to Durazo speak? She’s a NIMBY true believer. As a County Supervisor, there won’t be any leadership to rein her in. She will be able to vote however she wants and I am very confident those votes will be against housing.
