That's my initial belief. I questioned it based off of notions people made suggesting a single spider making observational decisions, and the overall complexity. I suppose you don't need that how fast spiders reproduce though.

Serious question, do we have reason to believe that the spider knows what it's doing when it does this? With web creation, I always thought it was practically an algorithm honed and constantly tweaked through evolution. Something as complex as this must warrant some creative intelligence, yeah?
