I hope someone is archiving all the Lego videos for the historical record. I am not sure anyone has spoken truth to power or humiliated it so throughly, as Iran has. They really are exposing so much.

The Israeli army struck civilians in the Lebanese city of Mayfadoun.
And then, the Israelis double-tapped the medics who arrived onto the scene.
And then, they triple-tapped the next wave of medics.
And then, they did it one more time for good measure.
Such a predictable response. Racism prevents the US from seeing the obvious.
Chicago style pizza is absolutely the most American of all pizzas.

In 1953 Iran had a functioning democracy. A free press. Seven political parties. Women in universities. Women granted voting rights in municipal councils in 1952. A secular prime minister named Mosaddegh who believed Iran's oil belonged to Iran. The US and Britain decided he had to go.
Why is there no one in the US government stepping up to stop this insanity? The president of the US is openly threatening genocide against a country of 90 million people, saying "a whole civilisation will die tonight". No mass resignations and the opposition party is absent. What sick death cult. Unbelievably and shockingly dangerous.
US capitalist death cult
I think not enough people understand that the pushback against renewables and EV's is money.
Without getting too in the weeds: renewables cannot ever be as profitable as oil and gas.
EV's don't make as much money as gas guzzlers.
That's it. That's all you really need to know.
Kémy Adé was shocked by the immigration refusal letter she received. In rejecting her permanent residence application, the Immigration Department cited her current job duties, which included wiring and assembling control circuits, building control and robot panels, programming and troubleshooting. The department said these duties didn’t match the Canadian work experience she claimed. Well, no, they didn’t. Adé is a post-doctoral research fellow and guest teacher at McMaster University — and those skills are not part of her repertoire. Nor are they what she submitted in her immigration application a year ago. “I saw this language about this job description that has nothing to do with me,” said the health scientist from France, who has a PhD from Sorbonne University in the immunology of aging. “I was disoriented how this could happen.” But a disclaimer at the bottom of the refusal letter might provide a hint. It’s believed to be the first time that the department explicitly referred to the use of generative AI to support application processing in immigration refusals. The disclaimer also noted that all generated content was verified by an officer and that generative AI was not used to make or recommend a decision.
Today in AI:
Canada rejected the PR application of a McMaster postdoc from the Sorbonne who works in the immunology of aging because the generative AI being used to process applications (😱) entirely hallucinated her credentials.
Everyone involved should be fired.

Best post of the morning!
WATCH: Seriously, if you’re following ANY bike-lane debate, you HAVE TO WATCH this news story. You actually can’t make this up. Ford claims without evidence that bike-lanes are bad for small business, and THE ACTUAL BUSINESS ASSOCIATION obliterates him with data.
Safe bike-lanes mean business.

A rhetorical piece, but this is a big truth too seldom remembered. The concentration of wealth is a system feature of capitalism, but the speed of it has accelerated enormously in recent years and decades.

CBC continues to scold Canadians on the need to keep our "politics" out of the discussion on whether we get strong-armed into buying the F-35.
Lol... the F-35 is all about politics.
It is the politics of threat and intimidation against our independence.

This long, meandering post is pleasantly brilliant and well worth the read, even if you are not particularly interested in the by-election
Conceived in Bootle, my father had 7 years of schooling, was a strong trade unionist, and would be considered a dinosaur today for his views on gender rolls and sexuality.
I am the only one in the family to go to university. I have lived my entire life on the balance point your describe so well.
Canadian here. This meandering post is brilliant. You manage to explain without patronizing or demonizing. I can always quibble about fine points, but I think you have captured the heart of the change and how it is perceived differently by different people.

It is the decent and compassionate thing to do. It also makes economic sense.
Jeffrey Bezos is destroying the Washington Post for the same reason Musk destroyed Twitter and Ellison is destroying CBS—oligarchs oppose the free press when if it threatens their wealth and power.
They don’t want normal people to see what is happening in America.
