"Every species is connected in deep time to milions of other species and holds a direct line to the future of life on earth...when a species goes extinct we're breaking that connection." Hear more from @biologicaldiversity.org’s @savelifeonearth.bsky.social on our new podcast about extinction:

Why are Colorado communities opposing a Utah oil railway construction project? How about because it will send up to 4.5 billion gallons of oil/year on tracks right next to the Colorado River? #climate #oil #utah #colorado

EPA just nearly tripled what it claims are safe levels of atrazine, which is so dangerous it's banned in 44 countries. EPA is bending over backward to accommodate growers who are drenching food, fuel & fiber with atrazine at the expense of public health & the environment. www.epa.gov/ingredients-...

Breaking: @centerforbiodiv.bsky.social is calling on AZ Game & Fish Commission to ban dog pack hunting for mountain lions, bears, coati & other wildlife. Currently hunters use GPS-collared dogs to track wildlife for miles via smart phone apps & satellites, putting jaguars & ocelots at risk.
While the number of people crossing the border increased exponentially since Trump’s wall went up a new study reveals an 86% reduction in wildlife crossings. At well over $20 million dollars a mile, Trump’s wall is both a wastefully expensive tactical failure & an ecological disaster.
This story is blowing my mind:

I had a feeling @bretthartl.bsky.social’s response to the Gaetz AG nomination would make its way onto @lastweektonight1.bsky.social, and here it is:
Out in the borderlands with my dude Moon…
Beautiful. And Moon, the best dude.
“They should reject American fracked exports and instead embrace the renewable future we desperately need.”
“He's damning frontline communities and our planet to climate hell just to pad the already bloated pockets of fossil fuel tycoons. The rest of the world will be horrified by these efforts to actually speed up climate change.”
Here’s the Center’s take: “Picking someone like Chris Wright is a clear sign that Trump wants to turn the U.S. into a pariah petrostate,” said Jean Su, director of the Center for Biological Diversity's energy justice program.
Quote from Greenwire article on Gaetz AG nomination: “Luckily all of our environmental laws are older than 18 years, so Rep. Gaetz shouldn’t have much interest in them,” said Brett Hartl, government affairs director at the Center for Biological Diversity, a frequent litigant in environmental lawsuits.
Wowwww
