Also the Trumpification of British politics.

However hard Nigel tries to distance himself from the tangerine tw@t, never forget that he’s just the manager of MAGA’s UK branch office.

Hilarious that they think “Trump has been planning this war with Iran for 40 years” helps Donald, given the total lack of planning that was obvious to everyone.

Aside from the rights & wrongs of this case, I can't believe that senior figures can initiate vetting on a candidate but there's apparently no system in place to ensure that when someone passes or fails vetting, the result is automatically passed to the person(s) doing the appointing. Seems so basic

No matter how much I read, I just cannot fathom the idea that civil servants should *not* tell ministers that their choice to be US Ambassador has red flags from Security Vetting.

That's *not* a defence of Starmer - and Robbins may have been applying the rules correctly. But the rule seems insane.

Folks, I've got some bad news. The Unite The Kingdom rally on May 16th has had to be cancelled due to a severe lack of funding. We've poured everything into this - blood, sweat and tears - to give the British people a voice against the madness destroying our country, but without the financial backing we needed, we can't make it happen this time.

The establishment will be laughing, but this isn't the end. It's a wake-up call. If you want to see real change and take our streets back, we need your support now more than ever. Donate, share, get involved - because the fight for Britain continues.

Stay strong, patriots. We'll be back bigger and stronger.

Is there a chance the cash they did raise gets refunded? Or has it disappeared up a nostril somewhere?

A small point from the Mandelson/Robbins saga. Refom and many Tories argue for a civil service than can be more easily bent to the will and whims of their elected political masters.

This is precisely what happened here.

Not comfortable with politicians policing which concerns are legitimate & which concerns they can dismiss out of hand.*

They’re supposed to be our representatives, not the gatekeepers of what’s sayable.

*without even using an objective metric like “does the evidence support this or that view?”

The thing is, there are also "legitimate concerns" about her policies pandering to racists. Biden had one job, to stop Trump's second term. He failed. Labour's job is stop a Reform led government. They're doing the opposite.

A local tattoo artist posted a video on Instagram of him asking two blokes in hi-vis not to put up an England flag on the lamp post outside his shop. Consequence: a flood of bad Google reviews including the predictable “paedo” allegations (“he touched my daughter” etc). Truly the shittiest people.

There's a reason why Meta's employee keylogging plans are only being deployed in the US -- per experts we spoke to, this sort of monitoring would be illegal in much of Europe, where such monitoring is a violation of worker privacy.

In the US, most states don't even require notice of surveillance.

Meta will begin keystroke logging US employees at work -- complete with mouse movements and periodic screenshots -- to train better AI agents.

This comes after Boz posted about a future in which AI will "primarily do the work" at meta.

The toxic people who don't think Shabana Mahmood doesn't belong in this country are white racists, not white liberals

But white liberals - like the mixed race, Asian or black liberals - have just as much right to disagree with Shabana Mahmood as they do with Theresa May or Nigel Farage or Zia Yusuf

'Richard Tice’s girlfriend is very annoyed that the free press she champions, despite having emigrated to a dictatorship without one, is investigating her boyfriend for stuff she says people who aren’t her boyfriend, like Angela Rayner, should resign over.'

I'm watching the Jimmy Savile documentary on Netflix and it's remarkable how much it's actually about how Thatcherism hollowed out public institutions such as hospitals so that they came to rely on the largesse of private entrepreneurs who, now being indispensable, were able to act with impunity

Canadian Media Platforms Atlas Network Groups Pushing Fossil Fuels in Response to Iran War The think tank representatives are making variations of a similar argument: Trump’s illegal military incursions serve as an opportunity for Canada to expand oil and gas infrastructure.

"Wondering why there are so many 'experts' in the news talking about expanding oil and gas in response to the Iran War?

According to our new DeSmog analysis, there's a common thread linking all those experts: a little known US group called Atlas Network."

Maybe he is a man of his word. Maybe when he said “And when you're a star, they let you do it. You can do anything. Grab 'em by the 🐈.” we should take his frank admission that he sexually assaulted women at face value & ask ourselves why he’s in the White House, not in prison where he belongs.

But renewables are coming and are going to march all over them..

Meanwhile tax their profits hard as a punishment for their bad actions
