Gov. DeSantis and Florida Republicans are monsters:
"the state’s schoolchildren, who as young as 14 could soon be allowed to work overnight shifts without a break – even on school nights..."

I think that Chief Academic Officer Marcus Myers should be made to go to Sarah Inama's classroom and specifically point out which children he thinks should not be welcome in the classroom.

In other words, Marcus Myers thinks that the job of Chief Academic Officer is to ensure that the Nazis and white supremacists and bullies are welcome to express that some children should not be welcome in a public school sixth grade classroom.

"Chief Academic Officer Marcus Myers highlighted specific policy sections in an email exchange, emphasizing that district facilities should be 'content neutral' and respect others' right to express differing opinions."

The Not Invisible Act of 2019 established the Not Invisible Act Commission and mandated that it produce a report with recommendations for solving the crisis of sexually assaulted, trafficked, murdered, and missing indigenous women. The links that go to the commission's report are now dead.

How the SAVE Act may affect registering to vote for women, other groups Research suggests up to 34% of voting-age women don't have documents proving citizenship with their current legal name.

"For many Americans, primary proof of citizenship is their birth certificate. If an applicant's birth certificate doesn't match their legal name — or if an applicant doesn't have proof of citizenship at all — they may have to produce additional documentation to vote under the SAVE Act."

Can you explain why access to the monthly temperature and precipitation maps is now restricted to only 2024-2025? Prior to a couple of days ago all maps going back to 2000 were accessible.

1 year ago 0 0 1 0

I had been accessing the maps in the past couple of weeks, because I wanted to update the graph. Now I can no longer access maps prior to 2024.

The ratio of new warm:new cold records was 22 : 1. Over half the ranks in the period 2001-2017 are in the categories "above", "much above", or "record warmest". Less than twenty percent of the ranks are "below", "much below", or "record coldest". Ratio of all "above" to all "below" average? 2.8 : 1.

1 year ago 0 0 1 0

"Record warmest" is obvious in the actual data - a whopping 44 new regional records were set over the 17 years from 2001-2017; a new regional record warmest temperature about occurred every 4 months (should only see one about once per *decade*).

I made this chart by compiling all ranks for the nine regions over the period 2001-Aug 2017. The left bar shows the expected rank distributions if climate were stable; the right bar shows the actual distribution of ranks.

Everyone should know that NOAA has just restricted access to monthly temperature and precipitation maps to just the last year. Previously the maps were available going back to 2000.

A Dictator is one who dictates what is and is not permissible. When a Dictator dictates based not just on preservation of power, but also based extensively on maintaining ideological purity, then that Dictator is a Totalitarian.
I didn't sign up for this timeline.
