Jeff Bezos’s wedding cost $50 million which is $20 million more than the U.S. government has spent on math research this year.
We’re gutting science funding to fund tax cuts for billionaires.
Announcing ArchaeOS, a speculative keepsake game made for the @archive.org DiscMaster jam by @mtrc.bsky.social and me!
The game asks you to interpret digital artefacts using a deck of cards, and is made exclusively with assets from DiscMaster.

Cruelty is the deliberate point of the current administration. Don’t stoop to their level.
Please don’t let BlueSky become polluted with bullshit #pseudoarchaeology the way Twitter has.
We don’t need no Ancient Aliens.
We don’t need no Graham Hancock.

This morning I saw a large JAQ account "JAQing" about these, so a reminder that pseudoarch ancient mummified aliens claims in Peru (which have been around for a long while but resurged recently), are fueling burial desecration to create these manufactured aliens.

Digital/data literacy is a core need for practicing archaeologists, and something that has been the subject of many of our articles.
Just to put it out there again that I collect archaeology context sheets and if you give me yours I'll share you into my collection. 🏺

Hello Bluesky! The Canadian Archaeological Association / Association canadienne d'archéologie has made the move from the other place! We're looking forward to connecting with the archaeological community over here, so please tag folks we should be following! #canarch #heritage 🏺
Agreed!
I've been thinking about 1980s/1990s mall culture a lot lately. I have so many good memories tied to malls - most relating to family and community, few to consumption/consumerism.
Sometimes I am reminded of Heritage Mall. Every time I think about such a rad place that I legitimately miss, I also get angry. Because it makes me think about how much this city, that I love, sucks at preserving its contemporaty past. #yeg
ドキドキ (Doki Doki) is the sound of a beating heart in Japanese. 土器(Doki)🏺 means earthenware in Japanese & this play on words between the two is used a lot in regards to Jomon pottery. This art exhibit features some cute kitties holding Jomon flameware and suienmon pots ❤️❤️ #Japan #Jomon #archaeology
Oh that's a lovely photo of her! 💖
Honoured to have collaborated with Dona and Paul, along with my archaeogaming partner in crime @herrprofdr.bsky.social and colleague Carl Therrien, on this article.
Call for contributions to edited book: Unearthing Ancient Horrors Representations and Receptions of Uncanny Archaeology Editor: Gabriel Moshenska, UCL Institute of Archaeology, London Archaeology is a powerful and pervasive theme in horror. Meddlesome antiquarians, cursed artefacts, empty tombs and ambulant mummies have been mainstays of fiction and popular culture for centuries, shaping public perceptions of archaeology and the ancient world. The aim of the proposed book is to bring together critical reflections on uncanny archaeologies, to highlight the quality and variety of contemporary studies, and to encourage future developments and new directions in scholarship. Send c.200 word abstracts to g.moshenska@ucl.ac.uk by Friday 14 March.
Call for abstracts: I’m putting together an edited book on archaeology and horror. Details below. Contact me for full CFP or to discuss potential submissions. 🏺👻🧟🏛️
They are 😊 He has some neat stripes in his haunches that don't show up well in photos, the tabby "M" on his forehead (from his mom), and some neat grey/black tufts in his cheeks and tail (from his dad).
The beard on this boy is so glorious #siberianforestcat #HeroSilverwood
