Getting comments trying to argue against my point with the exact things I said NOT to come at me with is very annoying 🙄 I never fully was behind the whole “no one understands nuance these days” but like I’m really starting to get it now

Man, seeing some fandom youngsters being like "don't ship things that aren't canon" like either you're boring as hell or someone stole your whimsy. There's so much fear around these spaces lately, it's concerning.

i think a reason that young people discovering fandom for the first time don't understand that fandom is all about imagination and creation

Ppl like to think that queerness is overall accepted nowadays and it still very much isn’t. And I can see this in the way ppl interact with queer media

Where I grew up, it was normal to hate gay ppl while also having a gay friend (usually the queer person was homophobic too). No one thought that was odd. My bff in hs was sent away to a Christian boarding school bc he parents found out he was gay. That was 15 years ago, but that’s not that long ago.

Growing up very religious in a very red state has definitely shaped my view of queerness. (Like I live in a state where they made it illegal to make conversion camps illegal…) So I often forget that other ppl didn’t grow up that way and truly don’t understand how ppl can be so hateful.

We all know the judgement over age in fandom, but I think the topic of relationship status is another. Especially when you are married. And if you’re completely open with your partner about the crazy shenanigans you get up to in fandom spaces, ppl truly think that’s bizarre.
