lol, overheard someone say that nowadays everyone wants to be part of a village but doesn't want to be a villager. And I can't stop thinking about it.

Having finished Christian Cameron’s epic Alexander, I’m back in Renaissance Florence for my next audiobook. I’m thoroughly enjoying @dvbishop.com’s series, and Mark Meadows is one of my favourite narrators. Racing through this one. #booksky #florence #historicalfiction

Excellent display at Delaval Hall to celebrate the tercentenery of Sir John Vanbrugh’s death. If you’re in and around the area this week, it’s well worth a visit #delavalhall #northumberland

Do not mess with this owl. He’s armed as a hoplite with a heavy spear, round shield and crested helmet. He will finish you, if you so much as look at his mouse larder.

Struggled through Martin Amis’ Money so I reverted to something I knew I would enjoy for my next paperback read. Always enjoy Bernard Cornwell and I’ve been wanting to revisit Uhtred, son of Uhtred for a while. Destiny is all #booksky #lastkingdom

Can’t help but feel they shouldn’t have a bin with a sign saying “no hot ashes” in my local crematorium 😅

Updated my profile photo since the one before was old even when I uploaded it on first signing up, and I’ve realised just how few photos I have of myself. Even this one is from 2 years ago.

Been struggling through Money by Martin Amis over the last couple of months. Finally finished it last night - it was definitely a challenge. I know I'm supposed not to like the people in it but it does make it hard to want to pick it up again. Not sure I'll return to Amis. #BookSky

Evening folks. Been a while. But had to share how good this book is—finished Peter Straub’s Ghost Story this morning and wow. Chilling horror at its best. It’s a slow burn, but the character development is great, and it gets creepier and creepier as the evil slowly emerges. Wonderful.

Went exploring an old WW1 bunker yesterday in Seaton Sluice. Sprawling place, really interesting. #history #northumberland

Been playing Gloomhaven with a friend recently, only done a few scenarios but my word it’s incredible. Lot to get your head around but it’s such a fun game. #boardgames

There’s something incredibly comforting about watching a YouTuber playing a game you love with decent commentary. I know some find it odd how others enjoy watching people play games, but to me it’s like a warm blanket. Especially when that game is Skyrim.

Played Planet Unknown with a friend tonight, fantastic. Premise is you each have a planet you must develop by placing tiles. Really feels like a game with limitless replayability. Can even play it solo (always a bonus). Definitely recommended #boardgames

Well had my first date in at least 6 months and it didn’t go terribly. Only met for coffee but I picked my favourite café in Whitley Bay so I’d be comfortable and don’t think I got too anxious. He seemed to enjoy himself anyway.

Don’t think the end of your 20s is when you need to have everything figured out. People’s lives move at different paces.

Doing a lot of work to the Interstellar soundtrack recently. An absolute masterpiece of a score (and a film). www.youtube.com/watch?v=a3lc...

I was Team Alexander from the start too—was in an impossible position and was such a charming, lovely man. The world needs more people like him. #thetraitors

Good luck! I moved house about 18 months ago and it’s amazing how much stuff accrues over time. You’re probably nearing the point of moving past packing things neatly in well-labelled boxes to just hoying things into bin bags and hoping for the best

That’s reassuring to hear! I think it definitely suffered from having to introduce so many characters at once but I did find the last 100 pages went by much quicker when POVs had settled. I already own the next book so I’ll definitely give it a go!
