Before History Had a Name What We Know About Humanity's Deep Past

Before history had a name...

For over 98% of our existence, humans lived, loved, created, and remembered—without leaving behind a single written word.

My latest post begins to explore the world of "prehistory" and how we know so much about it.

Autistic people are whole, valuable, brilliant humans. Full stop.

If you’re angry, good. But don’t stop there.

Autistic people are not broken. They’re not a tragedy. They don’t need fixing.

They need respect, safety, and 𝘱𝘰𝘸𝘦𝘳.

Start by listening to autistic voices. Always.

Our understanding of autism has come 𝘢 𝘭𝘰𝘯𝘨 𝘸𝘢𝘺, and this kind of outdated, dehumanizing bullshit has no place in public discourse—let alone in 𝘩𝘦𝘢𝘭𝘵𝘩 𝘱𝘰𝘭𝘪𝘤𝘺.⁣

The Secretary of Health should be guided by science, not fearmongering. By compassion, not ableism. By facts, not 1950s pseudoscience.⁣

RFK said something horrific about autistic people yesterday—painting them as incapable of work, relationships, creativity, or even basic independence. I'm not going to post the full quote, but it was vile.⁣

This isn’t just ignorant. It’s dangerous. ⬇️

How I Started Believing in Magic (Without Meaning To) I didn’t set out to find magic. But somewhere along the way… magic may have found me. So now I’m tracing the history of knowledge, science, and power—following the thread to see where it leads. Want t...

This isn’t a newsletter of hot takes.

It’s a long walk through the archive. A conversation with forgotten frameworks. A quiet remembering.

If you’re curious, you’re invited. I'm not teaching. Just learning out loud.

The first essay is live: How I Started Believing in Magic (Without Meaning To)

Embers and Echoes: Tracing the History of Magic, Science, and Power | Mandi Kaye | Substack Not your average history lesson. This is where myth, energy, and empire collide. I’m tracing the stories we were never meant to remember—one echo, one ember at a time. Click to read Embers and Echoes:...

🔥 Embers and Echoes is my new Substack project.

It’s a historically grounded inquiry into how power reshaped what we call knowledge—through the intertwined histories of magic, science, power, and belief.

It’s part research, part personal unlearning, and a lot of dot-connecting.

What if magic isn’t just a myth?
What if it’s real?
And what if we didn’t forget it—we were taught to?

We are Anonymous. Expect Us. #USA #trump #ice #elonmusk #anonymous #government #politics TikTok video by Anonymous

“Our intervention will only be a temporary roadblock unless you, the people, rise.”

They think we’ll sit back and take it. That we’ll let them burn everything down while we whisper our outrage in private.

Enough.

The system is breaking. If we don’t act now, we may never get the chance. Rise.

Important: One of the two federal judges who ordered a temporary block on the freezing of funds per the OMB memo has decided the Trump administration is still withholding funds.

Next step: a restraining order

Dear Representative Feret,

I am a constituent from [REDACTED]

At this moment, our federal constitution is in crisis. Elon Musk-an unelected, unappointed, unconfirmed individual, in charge of a "department" that has no Congressional authority-has sent teenagers into OPM to download American's private, personal data in violation of the law and the Constitution. He has claimed the right to veto government spending approved by Congress-a power deemed illegal by the Supreme Court when exercised by the President, let alone a non-governmental official.

I cannot emphasize enough that if this is allowed to continue, we lose our constitutional democracy. Elon Musk does not have the power of the purse. Elon Musk has not had constitutional authority delegated to him in any official capacity. Elon Musk is exercising authority that does not belong to him. Authoritarian overreach must be stopped immediately, before it gains a foothold.

I know as a state representative, there are many things you cannot do. But it is not nothing.

I am asking you to take action to preserve our democracy and our Constitution by sponsoring and passing State laws that hold that companies with executives in the C-suite engaging in open violation of the laws and Constitution of the United States lack authority to operate in Colorado and any property in the state is subject to civil forfeiture upon suit by the Colorado Attorney General.

Thank you for your assistance.
Sincerely,

I have sent a letter to my state representatives asking them to pass a law disallowing companies from operating in the state where C-Suite executives are waging war on the Constitution, punishable by civil forfeiture of company property.

THE ASK
This week, between Monday and the vote on Vought, we're asking people from all over the country to plan a visit to Senate State Offices to demand Democrats fight and to hold Republicans accountable for their complicity.
DEMOCRATS MUST USE EVERY PROCEDURAL TOOL TO SHUT DOWN
TRUMP'S AGENDA
Yes, we need Democrats to vote no on Vought's nomination, but no is not enough. Democrats have the power to grind Senate business to a halt and force Republicans to feel the political cost of backing Trump's extremist agenda. Here's how:
1. Deny a Quorum: If Republicans don't have 51 votes in the chamber, Democrats can walk out and shut down Senate business entirely.
2. Block Unanimous Consent: Object to every procedural shortcut, forcing Republicans to take the longest possible route for every step of the confirmation process.
3. Max Out Debate Time: Use all 30 hours of debate on Vought to expose Project 2025, Musk's Treasury takeover, and the funding freeze.
4. Delay and Disrupt: Force roll-call votes, quorum calls, and procedural delays to slow everything down.
5. Blanket Opposition: Democrats cannot continue to vote for Trump's other nominees, helping to install more MAGA loyalists into powerful positions in the federal government while this power grab continues.
No Business as Usual: This is a constitutional crisis. Democrats must abandon the old rules and fight with everything they have.
Bottom line: Senate Democrats must block, delay, and obstruct every step of this process-no cooperation, no easy votes, no fast-tracking Trump's takeover. To learn more about how Senate Democrats can shut down Trump's agenda with procedural hardball, check out our explainer here.

Wellness tip: If your life feels overwhelming, ignore it for a little while and escape into a good book. Therapy is great (go to therapy), but sometimes, a fictional world is the reset button your brain needs. Bonus points if there’s a hot mess of a protagonist making your own chaos look tame.

Was there today for the H.R. 9495 vote (bill that would have allowed labeling nonprofits as terrorist supporting organizations).

Voted no, of course - but I do want to report that the activism DID work and persuaded members.

I thought it’d be a lonely NO vote, which we take often. It wasn’t.
