Hmm… I see them at Lake Simcoe, too, where there’s bald eagles down at the southern tip of Cook’s Bay. Not in great numbers like out my way (most at the treatment plant at the western edge of CSSP) but definitely lots. But in Simcoe there’s loads of scrawling herons 🤩 and osprey too. I love it.

Think about this: A retired game show host may end the world as we know it. Only a master satirist could write this scenario, but Mark Twain is dead.

The 26-mile (42 km) long line opened to traffic between Stouffville Junction and Jackson's Point in 1877. The railway was included in the Midland System acquired by the Grand Trunk Railway in 1884. Most of the line was abandoned in the 1920s. 2/3

Despite long lines at either end of the Big Chute, it was discovered that the Big Chute was effective in preventing the migration of the lamprey into Lake Couchiching and Lake Simcoe.

Conservationists ask: Will Ontarians spend $7 a year to save 88 species? Nearly all species at risk in southern Ontario could vanish by 2050. A cost analysis of how to save them suggests the decline could be reversed if every Ontarian pitched in $7 a year.

If every Ontario resident contributed $7 annually, at least 75 per cent of the species currently under threat in the Lake Simcoe-Rideau ecoregion could recover, researchers say. Here's how.
