That’s eldritch horror. This movie takes place in a metal coffin at the bottom of an ocean of blood. It’s supposed to feel suffocating, disorienting, and unknowable. The fear comes from what you don’t understand, not what’s spoon-fed to you. Iron Lung doesn’t hold your hand. It doesn’t pause to explain the lore. It doesn’t stop the tension so you can feel comfortable. That’s the genre. That’s the point. And honestly? Respect to Markiplier for committing to that vision instead of sanding it down into something safe and easily digestible. If you want every idea explained out loud and neatly packaged, there are plenty of mainstream horror shows that do exactly that. You don’t have to like Iron Lung. That’s fine. But calling it “bad” because it does exactly what it advertised is missing the intent. There are valid criticisms to be made about the film. Being an uncompromising, claustrophobic eldritch horror experience isn’t one of them.
