It seems to me senseless to remain as we are, locked in nostalgia for a unipolar world, clinging to the false hope that an increasingly isolationist, divided, deranged, and debt-burdened nation 3000 miles away is our only saviour. Europe and the UK now stand at a crossroads. One path leaves us guessing what new spasm of insanity will emerge from an egotistical, sullen, and potentially demented old man. Will we be left undefended against threats from the East? Will we remain weak in the face of currency speculation? Will our sovereign territory be invaded by US troops? Or will we merely face Trumpism’s gangster demands that we hand over half or our mineral wealth in return for peace?
