past my knees. ❄️
back at it.
the boys coming into my life last year meant yogurt making, butter making, etc, all got put on hiatus.
they are just independent enough now that I can sneak in a batch to finish overnight. I usually do 3/4 batch to plain yogurt for cooking, baking etc and 1/4 with fruit on the bottom.
years ago I used to watch these videos when I was feeling anxious. I forgot about them. I rediscovered these amazing gems this evening when I recalled one of the scenes from these idyllic, soft, warm embrace of a film. get a cup of tea and enjoy the feed cleanser.

Absolutely! I was in NOTL at the time and got to see his show then too. What a kind person for putting up with my insane level of awkwardness.
In that moment, I was.
Five years old, that is.
I met Stephen Fry in the parking lot of a grocery store where I awkwardly stalked him during his whole shopping trip. I called out “Mister Fry!” while he was loading his car. As I babbled about how much I loved his work, he gave very polite nods and thank yous talking to me like I was a 5 year old.

just this kind of thing, please. 📚
she doesn’t even stay away from the other chickens during the day. she just wants her own space at night. #metoogirl 🐓
a large smoked ham hock on a plate.
glenn is the smoke master of this house. but today, I smoked my first hock.
no criticism allowed (lots of room for improvement I know), just appreciation for doing a thing in between twin naps, plus the smell of that autumn air + maple wood smoke = 👌🏼

when making stock for the freezers, labelling is imperative. Glenn helps by giving notes to help recall what this particular batch was like. this one was one of my favourites and quite specific. #sthubert 🐓
A small bouquet of basil bunches featuring flowers, laying on a cutting board on a countertop.
you’re definitely not supposed to let your basil plants flower. but if you do, it sure is pretty.
no time to carve your pumpkin?
have your chickens do it for you.

a pair of tiny handmade grey mittens on a countertop.
glenn is getting back into knitting. I asked him to make thumbless mittens for the boys. here is the first adorable pair. 🧶
