The First WORLD FENCING LEAGUE is happening April 25th!!! I'M GEEKING!!!
Japanese engineers developed this "Sword Tip Visualisation" tracking technology specifically for this event that will make it so much easier for the average person to see what's going on!

Oh wow, this is great! Even as an ex-fencer I've found it tricky to follow on TV (especially the weapons with priority).
Yup yup. But culture change is hard, and it's not in *their* interest to help change it. I did a Conversation piece once without really thinking about it too much because our press office encourages it. I likely won't again. But your plan sounds amazing!

In theory this is because we all get paid good salaries and lots of excellent benefits and this kind of stuff is 'part of the job we get paid for'. But that hasn't been true for a loooong time.

Having never really paid it much attention before, I've spent the last 6 months 'catching up', just in time to reach the new series, and it's so delightful.

Hey fellow @imaginationlanc.bsky.social folks, new student project?
I'm not at CHI but I hear that there's expected "oh god what do we do about reviewing, we have had an exponential explosion in paper submissions" discussion.
I think a good start would be to stop making everyone feel like they have to publish 10 first author CHI papers to get a job. :-\
Oh boy... (what, not that one?)
Congratulations, Doctor!

I miss being in a regular group chat with you guys.
I feel like we need another axis here. Maybe its Kelsey's wet cat vs wet dog. ("the wet is bad but I keep messing with it but look how sad it makes me!")
Accurate! (everyone involved still knows he was wet, though)
He may be a god (and knows it) but he's a god with an inferiority complex.
Really cool thread about indigenous agriculture!
Admirable-looking crispy bits!
That is exactly the scene that came to mind pondering Sam's hypothesis! I concur.
"Thank you for the moo-sic"
A heritage breed cow standing in a green field staring deep into the camera. It is white with black feet, ears and nose, and has small horns. More cows are in the background.
Not so weird but this cow says happy birthday (and so do I!)
@jonbois.bsky.social Hey Jon did you know the chapter 23 video for 17776 is down? 'Terms of service violation' apparently but I'm guessing you can appeal that.
I could definitely send you a link (to a certain archive) relevant to this post but i'm... not going to do that here.
