Thank you for fighting, Brittany!

With nearly all of Harvard Chan School’s direct federal grants terminated, we are relying on philanthropy to power our research and support our educational programs. Every gift, regardless of size, advances our vision of health, dignity, and justice for every human. Support our work: hsph.me/whygive
Watching our field get torn apart in a matter of months makes me sick
So sorry Tammie - it’s so rotten. Hang in there.
Yep. One of the grants was a trial unrolling adolescents and young people. Irreparable breach of trust.
All 4 of my NIH research grants are terminated. These were grants on MDR-TB treatment & strategies for supporting adolescents living w/ HIV. This is a massive waste of resources. I am heartbroken for my Harvard team, my partners in Peru, the next generation of scientists & our country. Shame.
Who are the functionaries carrying out the destruction of the NIH? The Gang of Four: Memoli, McElroy, Schnabel, Bhattacharya. There are others, but these men play major day-to-day roles, they are the implementers, the enforcers, the true believers. www.thenation.com/article/poli...
Musk is rumored to spend $40M on Super Bowl ads with his wildly distorted claims attacking USAID. Don’t believe them.

And I'll unpack the reality in this 🧵, too. 1/13
Proud to see the endTB trial, work of a huge team, led by @partnersinhealth.bsky.social, @msf.org, IRD & supported by @unitaid.bsky.social, published in @nejm.org today. Safe, effective, shortened treatments for drug-resistant TB can be available to all. #TBSky #ForeignAid tinyurl.com/NEJM-endTB
This is 67 cases--a tiny fraction of TB's global burden, which exceeds 10,000,000 active cases per year.
But the longer we allow a curable illness to infect and kill millions, the more TB we'll see in the U.S. Tuberculosis is an airborne disease, and TB anywhere is a threat to humans everywhere.
