Trump's tariffs will be his downfall. I've been reading William Shirer's The Nightmare Years, about the rise of Nazism in Germany, and of course noting all the similarities with what's happening in the U.S. today. However, he points out that many working class people tolerated what was happening

because Nazism brought employment for all and the end of starvation. Trump's tariffs will bring unemployment and poverty to many working class Americans. They won't stand for it.

If there's a way he can threaten them, he will. "Nice little business you have here. It'd be too bad if something happened to it." Of course it's not legal, but who cares?
