The organism itself moves slowly, but inside, particles shuttle back and forth at high speed 🚚
This behavior is thought to involve the cytoskeleton (actin and microtubules) and motor proteins that move along them 🔬

A foraminifer (Amphisorus, probably kudakajimensis) that I keep in a Petri dish floated up to the surface and started extending its pseudopodia toward the air–water interface.
The radiating pseudopods almost look like it is trying to grab the surface.

We recently had the pleasure of welcoming the visitor to our lab, who kindly supports our research!
I ended up talking nonstop about foraminifera (as usual 😅), but hearing directly about the thoughts and motivations behind the donation was truly encouraging for us.
I went to Kanazawa to hold a Science × Art event.
I'm grateful for all the wonderful encounters. I learned so much😆
Kanazawa is also famous for gold leaf. Gold (& silver) leaf topping on soft serve ice cream is unique😊
