I am forever in awe at what we can achieve when we ask the big questions, set the big goals, and work to achieve them together, united across this life, this time, this world that is both so big and so small. To all of you amazing ppl out there, be curious, be extraordinary, and, above all, be kind🩵
A gouache and watercolor canvas painting with bright, twinkling stars illuminating blue and white nebulae clouds, contrasted by dark swirls of cosmic dusts threading amongst them. Atop the painting is a 3D paper cutout border depicting more stars and a multilayered paper craft of Perseverance, the Martian rover, in silhouette and looking up in wonder at the universe.

For as long as I can remember, I have always been in love with space. With our extraordinarily beautiful, wonderfully mysterious, vast-in-time-and-space-beyond-human-comprehension universe ✨🩵
More on these later, but I just wanted to share this one today to welcome home the crew of Artemis II!
BTW, if I've been a little quiet here, it's because I'm currently on a little trip...
You can see me boarding my flight in this video from Mission Commander Reid Wiseman, along with a few million fellow voyagers 😁

#Artemis
Captured by the Artemis II crew during their lunar flyby on April 6, 2026, this image shows the Moon fully eclipsing the Sun. From the crew’s perspective, the Moon appears large enough to completely block the Sun, creating nearly 54 minutes of totality and extending the view far beyond what is possible from Earth. The corona forms a glowing halo around the dark lunar disk, revealing details of the Sun’s outer atmosphere typically hidden by its brightness. Also visible are stars, typically too faint to see when imaging the Moon, but with the Moon in darkness stars are readily imaged. This unique vantage point provides both a striking visual and a valuable opportunity for astronauts to document and describe the corona during humanity’s return to deep space. The faint glow of the nearside of the Moon is visible in this image, having been illuminated by light reflected off the Earth. [alt text from NASA]
The #Artemis II astronauts said they needed more superlatives to describe their view of the eclipse, when the Sun was behind the Moon and its near surface was faintly illuminated by Earthshine

A top-down view of a detailed 3D model of the spaceship Serenity, Firefly class, depicted in elegantly clean and simple black and white with no texture details, like an unpainted marble statue. To the side of the model is an illustration featuring the 3D model, this time painted, flying through a colorful blue, purple, and red spacescape filled with stars and eclipsing planets. The ship leaves a trail of bright, colorful bubbles in its wake, as if it was sailing through the very river of space.
A hardcover book standing on a table with the cover depicting a blue, star-filled spacescape with galactic gas and dust clouds swirling around a ring of light, the title on the bottom right visible as "So Far: The Art of Mai Van". A blue, silver-foiled bookmark is leaning against the book, showing a similar spacescape, but this one depicting the edge of a large planet with its moon rising over the horizon behind it.

Thank you so much, that's very kind of you to say! 🩵😊 It's exactly what I'm always trying to achieve, but you never know if you've succeeded or not. I'm so happy to hear it worked, even if it's just this once! 😊
Digital illustration of a squadron of TIE starfighters speeding towards a ringed gas giant that dominates most of the star-filled space. The sun is just beginning to peek around the horizon of the planet, spilling light on the planet's rings and TIE fighters.
Digital illustration of a squadron of X-Wing starfighters with their S-foils locked in attack position all speeding towards a ringed gas giant that dominates most of the star-filled space. The sun is just beginning to peek around the horizon of the planet, spilling light on the planet's rings and the X-Wings.
Digital illustration of the Landsat 5 satellite floating serenely above Earth, its antenna pointed towards the planet. Dawn arrives on the planet as the sun lights up the clouds, while space remains dark but also bright and filled with colorful nebulae and stars
Digital illustration depicting a massive black hole, with streaks of light soaring gracefully along the event horizon and into the singularity, set against a backdrop of bright blue and purple nebulae and a sea of twinkling stars. Witnessing it all, her back to us and attached to a long serpentine tether disappearing into the foreground, is a cat astronaut in a spacesuit, serenely floating amongst the great unfolding story of our beautiful universe.
Also, I'm looking into changing some things this year and that might affect the availability of prints of my work. Just a heads up, in case there's one you're interested in or have been thinking about 😊 Thank you, as always, for checking out my work and for your support!

Digital illustration depicting an X-Wing starfighter in the foreground and his wingman off to the right, both ships hurtling toward two TIE fighters in the distance, the X-Wings' red lasers firing in staccato bursts to meet the enemies' green lasers. Behind the two TIE fighters, two planets are visible backlit by a bright, distant sun, with rings circling one of the planet.
Digital illustration of a detail-filled underbelly shot of the Venator-class Star Destroyer capital ship from Star Wars as it flies overhead, all thrusters glowing hot, through a blue and teal colored spacescape filled with stars and towards a bright, swirling nebula, that appears both turbulent and serene at the same time
Digital illustration of the spaceship Rocinante from the TV show The Expanse, her engines glowing brightly against the blackness of space broken here and there by the light from distant stars. She is flying towards a ring in the distance which is emitting a bright light like a beacon, with nebulous clouds of gas and dust swirling in towards it
Digital illustration of the arrival of the Firefly-class spaceship Serenity at the cloud covered planet of Persephone, one of its moons peeking out from behind the horizon. Multiple thruster contrails signifying ships leaving the bustling planet appear as tiny streaks in the distance. Serenity's engines are flaring orange hot and throwing off embers that softly transitions into little leaves soaring on the wind.

Today, the Trump administration repealed the endangerment finding: the ruling that served as the basis for limits on tailpipe emissions and power plant rules. Without it, we’ll be less safe, less healthy and less able to fight climate change—all so the fossil fuel industry can make even more money.
A moment of calm for your timeline 🩵
A friendly midweek reminder to take care of yourself, physically and mentally. Close your eyes, take a deep breath, hold, let it go. Repeat. Grab yourself a glass of water. Drink the whole thing. Breathe.
Stay healthy, stay strong, my friends. Love to you all 😊
More than 200,000 Danish citizens have signed a petition to buy California as a response to Trump’s attempt to take Greenland.
They say they will provide Californians with “rule of law, universal health care, fact-based politics, and a lifetime supply of Danish pastries.”
Thanks so much! 🩵😊
Pencil drawing of Gandalf the Grey from the movie The Lord of the Rings, with a separate slip of paper on which is written one of his quotes. It reads "I've found it is the small things, everyday deeds of ordinary folk, that keeps the darkness at bay. Simple acts of kindness and love"

A colored pencil sketch of a fluffy reindeer with large antlers on blue-gray toned paper, highlighted in white. The reindeer sits against a background-less blue-gray field, except for a rectangular box extending vertically from the lower section of the reindeer's antlers down to the top half of the reindeer's head, within which a blue, atmospheric glow fades upwards towards black, and white stars fade to white snow falling gently through the clear, crisp air. Two large crystalline snowflakes keeps the reindeer company on this cold winter night.

A fluffy, oh so soft looking, black cat, curled up sleeping on a red cushioned chair. The temptation to pet was overwhelming, but I managed to control myself and let the little one sleep in peace.
This museum has a cat, therefore it is a good museum.
That is all.

A square, gold picture frame displaying a print featuring an ancient Egyptian wall relief style painting of two women in gold masks, both holding a sai in each hand, posed and ready for ceremonial battle. Surrounding the two figures are rows and columns of ancient Egyptian hieroglyphics embellished in shiny gold foil, with a large, stylized winged scarab adorning the bottom.
Two vinyl stickers held spread apart. The first is of an illustration of the golden Book of Amun-Ra, with hieroglyphics and scarabs etched on to the cover and the Eye of Ra etched onto the round slot where one is to insert the key to open the book. The second sticker is of an illustration of the black Book of the Dead, with similar hieroglyphics and scarabs etched on to the cover, but with a winged scarab replacing the Eye of Ra on the round slot for the key.
Two digital illustrations, shown side by side, in the style of an ancient Egyptian wall hieroglyphic relief painting telling the story of the movies The Mummy and The Mummy Returns in a series of static sequential scenes laid out from left to right and down in several rows. The first illustration starts with Rick O'Connell's confrontation with the statue of Anubis in Hamunaptra and ends with our heroes on their camels riding into the sunset at the end of the movie The Mummy, while the second illustration starts with the discovery of the Bracelet of Anubis and ends with our heroes in the dirigible flying into the sunset at the end of the movie The Mummy Returns.
Death is only the beginning
Wrapping up the year with a shop update! New items have been added and a few updated, like this 2025 edition of the gold foil print of my "Reincarnation" illustration😊 Vinyl stickers are also currently on sale!

This gilded silver bowl features a detailed sculptural relief of Minerva (the Roman version of the Greek goddess Athena), who sits on a rock throne and holds a cane in her right hand and a shield in her left hand. The goddess is wearing her battle headgear and flowing robe, and to the left of Minerva's right hand is her symbol, the owl (look closely). The bowl has two handles, each measuring 3.4 centimetres (1.3 in) in length. The bowl itself weighs 2.388 kilograms (5.26 lb), having a 25-centimetre (9.8 in) diameter and 7.1 centimetres (2.8 in) in depth. Her foot is completely sculpted in the round and sticks out over the edge of the inner ring of the bowl, over the broad interior margin, which is decorated in a pattern of engraved palmettes.
The jaw-dropping Minerva Bowl from the Hildesheim Treasure, a hoard of Roman silver unearthed in 1868 in Germany. In high relief, Athena-Minerva sits on a rock, holding a cane or pedum, wearing her magnificent helmet. Note her little owl on the left. 🦉 🏺 1/

This may be one of the most detailed single-ship drawings I've ever done! And possibly the neatest. I used a ruler 😅 It almost felt like I was back in drafting class! Which I loved, so wins all around 😁
