When you think about contemporary images of the Liverpool and Manchester Railway, the most recognisable are a collection of images by Thomas Talbot [T.T.] Bury. Initially, six plates were published in 1831, then an expanded 2nd edition (12 plates)(1832) and 3rd edition (15 plates)(1833).
Of the many organisations I speak to I have a real soft spot for @fowt.bsky.social - please ask them for the access code - they will be pleased to see you and I will be too.

Bearded Martin, wearing a red helmet, smiling as he pokes his head up through a opening in an overgrown man made hole in the ground.
With much sadness, we announce the death of Martin Dixon on 15/10/2025, having had cancer for over 5 years. He was a long-time member, former chairman.
He & Linda enjoyed many happy times together, including organising numerous Sub Brit trips.
We'd love to hear your anecdotes & memories of Martin.
Sad to hear news of the passing of Martin Dixon. The volunteers & Committee of the Friends of Williamson's Tunnels, send their thoughts & condolences to Linda, Martin's Wife, his family & friends, and to Martin's fellow SubBrit members, who will also be feeling the loss of a good friend
RIP Martin
