It was about speed because you did not lift the pen off the paper as much. It was also about legibility because with dip pens there was more potential to blot when you lifted the pen more. There are some good histories of handwriting that talk about thd history of script.

2 display boxes with drawers from Amazon for the vintage, and 3 cases from Galen Leather for everything else that is a pen. I put my inks and other stationery supplies in 3 drawers of a built in dresser, with Ikea felt dividers. I have paper in a cheapo cart from Ikea

There are so many fantastic inks out there. Diamine has a lot of the same colours so can't go wrong with them.
Here are my #fountainpen New Years Resolutions:
1. Use all of my pens in a year.
2. Use all my Diamine #inkvent inks once.
3. Use all my regular inks at least once.
