I am kind of amazed that people on the left who are very aware of Trump’s wild incompetence and how his inner circle leaks like a sieve could think Trump could pull off something so sophisticated and realistic as a near-assassination.

Wasn’t expecting a lot of liberal-coded commenters to respond to my article on different platforms with “FINALLY maga is admitting what we knew all along about the whole thing being staged” lol
I wrote about why MAGA has developed conspiracy theories about the assassination attempt on Trump in Butler, PA: www.ms.now/opinion/trum...
This is a damning data point as we try to estimate if Warsh would withstand political pressure from Trump.

The backlash against my very straightforward Top Gun 2 critique as imperial propaganda resulted in one of the craziest backlashes from the right that I’ve ever experienced.

Hunter Biden doing business deals while tagging along with his dad on a diplomatic trip to China was wrong. But Eric Trump doing it is worse: amidst the Trump family’s unprecedented corruption, it’s best read as an invitation for de facto bribery. www.ms.now/opinion/trum...
Materially this matters more than Corry Booker’s hilarious word salad on a Crooked Media podcast in which he avoided stating whether he thought Benjamin Netanyahu was a war criminal.
lmao
I discuss how, among other things, Trump’s blockade against Iran could draw countries like China into the war. Addicted to coercion and fantasizing about a costless form of escalation, Trump has opened up new pathways to disaster: www.ms.now/opinion/trum...

OPEC+ crude production fell to an all-time low for the expanded producer group in March.
And for OG OPEC, it’s the lowest recorded crude production since Desert Storm in 1990.
I genuinely wish more pundits took “touch grass” advice more seriously, so they could contemplate how people gather information and form judgments outside of a few social media sites. The media ecosystem matters, but it’s not a coincidence that the terminally online turn to it to Explain Everything.
I continue to think that it’s worth exploring the hypothesis that gloominess about the economy is a proxy for declining trust and pessimism about government. That would also help explain why you see those results where people say their own finances are fine but the economy is bad.
There are many left-of-center pundits online who seem to think that all of politics can be explained by media diet, and media diet through a very narrow lens. There seems to be total incuriosity about pairing changes in the information environment with political economy.
Two things that are true:
1 Americans seem impervious to economic data and this is a question worth exploring.
2 The thesis that this can all be explained by one factor -- social media -- is a bad answer.
I keep seeing this framing like Bremmer's. It is wrong. Instead:
1. Iran was developing an ICBM when Khamenei imposed a 2,000-km range limit.
3. The programs shifted to space launch.
4. Khamenei lifted the restriction in October 2025 after the June attacks.
5. Now he's dead, and here we are.
Okay this isn’t really happening anymore so I can tell you how l had “internal ICE sources”: the 3000 very stir-crazy ICE agents were all going wild on Minneapolis Tinder. Local girls would match with them and string them along for intel. They loved to brag about what they were doing all day
fresh @leftanchor.bsky.social episode, we've got @ahjohnson.bsky.social on to talk about his book on how US media enabled the genocide in Gaza www.leftanchor.com/e/how-to-sel...
“In exploiting the economic pinch-point off its coast, Iran is following a trail blazed by the U.S. and China, which for years have used their dominance in key areas of global commerce to pursue their foreign-policy goals.” www.wsj.com/economy/glob...
Me discussing how enormous, broad-based middle-class tax cuts threaten the progressive economic agenda with @zeeshanaleem.bsky.social.
Reversing Trump’s worst policies is important and expensive—a question is whether those tax cuts will make it harder to offset reversing Trump’s policies.
