If we want to build a stronger North Carolina, we must protect our ability to invest in schools, public safety, and infrastructure. We need a fiscally responsible budget that secures our future.
North Carolina’s public schools open doors of opportunity for students across the state. A real pay raise for every teacher and more support personnel will help teachers, students, and all of us succeed.
...to succeed, and the General Assembly must join them by investing in student success.
Investing in North Carolina’s children is an investment in a brighter future. My Critical Needs Budget proposed a $387 million investment for a much-needed raise in starting pay for teachers and support staff. Public school teachers work hard to prepare our children...
North Carolina has a fundamental responsibility to ensure a sound, basic public education for every student. That responsibility will never change, no matter the North Carolina Supreme Court’s abandonment.
I’ve proposed an additional public safety package to the General Assembly to support law enforcement, and I’m ready to work with anyone who’s serious about keeping North Carolinians safe.
Last year I signed bills that would make it easier for survivors of domestic violence to obtain a restraining order, increase penalties for the sale of fentanyl, and crack down on crimes including burglary, retail theft, reckless driving, and hit-and-run offenses.
North Carolina is well-positioned to compete and win in the industries that are shaping the future of energy and to keep attracting businesses with clean energy ambitions. We cannot let this economic momentum slip through our fingertips.
🚨 NCDOT’s Global TransPark and the US Navy have signed a 10-year agreement for the Navy’s Fleet Readiness Center East, which provides fleet support to the Dept. of War and will bring more than 400 jobs to eastern NC. A win for national security and a win for jobs.
North Carolina is leading the way in building a clean energy economy that creates good-paying jobs and keeps costs down for families. I look forward to continuing to work with business leaders across the state to make sure North Carolina is ready for the jobs of today and tomorrow.
Too many families are struggling to make ends meet. That’s why I proposed a Working Families Tax Credit that would put up to $823 back into the pockets of many North Carolina families.

In 2024, when I was Attorney General, I sued Live Nation/Ticketmaster for illegally ripping off consumers by exploiting its monopoly power. I’m gratified that the court agreed today and ruled in the states’ favor. Congrats to AG Jackson for finishing the job. Today’s ruling is a win for concertgoers
Republican legislators knew this too – but still left North Carolinians holding the bag. The Utilities Commission should step in to secure an affordable energy future for North Carolinians. We must do everything we can to make life more affordable for families, not more expensive.
I vetoed Senate Bill 266 for exactly this reason: because it would further expose North Carolina ratepayers to volatile fuel markets and shift the cost of electricity from large industrial users onto the backs of regular people, making your utility bills more expensive.
On top of a proposed 15% rate hike, Duke Energy is now asking North Carolinians to foot the bill for an additional $800 million in increased fuel costs.
I look forward to working with Sen. Murdock and the Legislative Black Caucus to make sure that all mothers and their children have access to the health care they need as we continue to build a safer, stronger, and healthier North Carolina.
I am proud we are working on increasing access to care for mothers as we recognize Black Maternal Health Week – because we cannot accept maternal disparities as a fact of life.
Last year, I signed legislation that permanently expanded North Carolina’s postpartum Medicaid coverage from 60 days to one full year.
This accelerated career prep program is just one recommendation from the Task Force on Child Care and Early Education to help expand access to child care and address staffing shortages across the state.
Guilford Tech Community College is home to one of 16 Child Care Academies at community colleges and universities across the state.
Walk-ins are now accepted all day long at all DMV locations, which means you don’t need to arrive at an office before it opens. Check out VisitDMV.nc.gov before you leave the house to find the office closest to you with the shortest wait time.
Progress at the DMV – but more work to do to make sure people can get on the road and go about their business.
Springing into another month working for the people of North Carolina!
It was an honor to welcome faith leaders from across the state to the People’s House. Thank you for putting your beliefs into action and for keeping the faith in North Carolina.
For those who have lost their lives in the line of duty to keep us safe – may their memories be a blessing.
Law enforcement officers run toward danger when the rest of us might flee. We owe them a debt we cannot adequately repay. As we honor North Carolina Peace Officers’ Memorial Day, let us offer our admiration and gratitude.
The strength and resilience of those who came before us lives on within us today, and it is our responsibility to carry that legacy forward and help shape a brighter future for our children and grandchildren.
We have the power to shape a brighter future for generations to come. In Jewish tradition, we speak of “I’dor vador,” from generation to generation.
