unpopular opinion: the new Conjure Elemental is better even though the creature is weaker on paper. you control it fully, the stat block scales with spell level, and it does not go rogue. Altering raw power for reliability is good for magical summons.

The Orb executes the wish immediatly after being spoken. There are some terrible things, but also silly ones like "unflappable artistry" or "magic bag of always fresh vegetables" in the 114 current stored wishes. random things like "meet a dragon (at a safe distance)" and "be invited to the ball"
something fun i bring to my tables is "The Orb", a magical item that players find around level 3 or 4. it causes them to make a wish: but, it stores ALL wishes made into it and then picks one at random. only one person has ever gotten their intended wish and it was fantastic.

One of my favorite characters was a YuanTi Cleric Chef named Boa Nepotea. Heward's Handy Spice Pouch produces any non-magical spice you can name.
Poisoned food? Mask it. Bribe a chef? Done. Convince the king you're a renowned cook from a far land?
