THEN I HAVE DONE MY JOB WELL

I honestly feel like the move would’ve been to spin off Methos. IMHO the makers of the show really underestimated how much of that show’s fan base were romance fans, not Highlander fans. You look up old videos of cons/panels in the 90s, it’s ALL women. Throngs. And they WORSHIPPED Peter Wingfield.

I see Brianna Wu trending again and I remind you that she really likes porsches and will pretty much say anything to get the attention that will get her more Porsches, so perhaps don't do that.

BTW one of these backdoor pilots was called “Two of Hearts” and it starred Claudia Christian as an immortal warrior midwife who is a modern day PI with her hot mortal husband and they solve crimes together in-between her chopping other immortals’ heads off and they totally should’ve made that show.

The final season of Highlander: The Series was wild. Half of it was backdoor pilots for new actress-led Highlander spinoffs (seriously, they did five different ones with different actresses) and after all that they gave the spin-off to series regular Elizabeth Gracen who’d been there the whole time.

The Ex-Tournament Fighters Support Group in our short film “Go Gentle” which I wrote. I also play Buzz, the former pro-wrestler. Big acting stretch for me, range-wise. 😂

I have no respect for those people

I could deal with the redressing tbh. Even the lazy “paint the WHOLE hilt, pommel, and cross guard black” thing passed narrative muster with me. But CIVIL WAR SABRES WEREN’T STANDARDIZED WHY ARE THEY ALL EXACTLY THE SAME.

It was frustrating because Marto would do four to six variations of every model in a line so if they had access to one WHY DID THEY NEVER HAVE THE OTHERS

IN POINT OF FACT L they established in the episode “Reasonable Doubt” that Duncan would open a bank account, deposit a modest amount, and come back in a hundred years as his own great great grandson to collect the interest.

21 hours ago 2 0 0 0

Originally they implied Duncan got his from Connor even tho they were clearly different swords but later they retconned it so he got his from a samurai after he shipwrecked in Japan

21 hours ago 1 0 1 0

That sounds about right. They were all Marto models that they redressed or painted the hilts black.

21 hours ago 1 0 0 0

Early on in the series Duncan would straight up take swords from immortals he beat and sell them in his antique store. Savage.

I know for a fact we would

It always viscerally disturbed me when they’d give a guest star on Highlander The Series the same sword as a previous guest star. Like I’d have to create a whole head canon explaining how Barry Pepper in “They Also Serve” ended up with Roddy Piper’s sword from “Epitaph for Tommy” or I couldn’t sleep

Weird cool day yesterday. @brandxjon.bsky.social started production on a short film I wrote called “Go Gentle” which stars Chris Casamassa who is legit a childhood hero of mine. So I got to watch him play a character I created and even tour my collection and sign my Red Dragon action figure of him.

You absolutely SHOULD NOT go around telling people that data centers are full of gold, silver, palladium, copper, and that the data centers are almost entirely unstaffed.

Anyway @mattfnwallace.bsky.social was like "Did you find anything fun while you were moving rooms" and I was like "Wehhh no, I did find a lip balm though"

but inevitably in a house full of flat rectangular objects you find a REAL INCREDIBLE FLAT RECTANGULAR OBJECT and you YELL WITH HAPPINESS

Anyway, catch me at BookCon this Sunday on an incredible panel with @victormanibo.com, @haileypiperfights.bsky.social, Jade Song, Andrew Joseph White, and Laura Samotin.
