This is completely wrong — and, in fact, betrays a complete misunderstanding of both Hungarian politics and modern authoritarianism.
Here's why.

There’s no shortage of debate about why people emigrate from Central America—but surprisingly little academic research, and what exists leaves major gaps.

"Health losses attributed to anthropogenic climate change," a brief communication in the journal Nature Climate Change. There's a map showing regions of the world, and pie charts of relevant studies as they apply to different health impacts like "heat-related deaths" and "maternal and child health"
🚨 NEW: Climate change is already causing 30,000 deaths per year - a global annual economic loss of $100-350B USD - but the true damage is probably 10x higher. Out TODAY in Nature Climate Change: the first systematic look at the science of "health impact attribution" 🔓 www.nature.com/articles/s41...

A politician, an ambassador, a technocrat, an economist, and two special envoys walk into a panel on climate change at #Ff4D and have a thought-provoking discussion on climate finance and strategies to better align the cause with everyday challenges faced by the public. #COP30
At #FfFD4 in Sevilla @mfespinosaec.bsky.social suggests that we should reform how the #COP system works—and she’s absolutely right.
Laurence Tubiana at #F4D: a proposal will be presented at #COP30 to impose taxes on first-class tickets, business class travel, and private jet usage in order to fund climate action initiatives.
Hope you enjoy it.

• 66% of the population believes that the government is not taking their concerns about climate change seriously enough.
• 45% have climate anxiety
• Climate change makes the vast majority consider migration as means to find a better future for their families.
Only a small percentage have participated in a climate change- related protest (@fridaysforfuture.bsky.social)
However…
• The majority of the population has a stronger desire to leave Honduras than to relocate within its borders.
• The vast majority have family member(s) that has already left Honduras.
Although the majority believes that floods and droughts have gotten worse over time, there is more concern about droughts—even when floods are more frequent.
• There is an overall agreement that climate change negatively impacts the entire country, but not individual municipalities.
• The vast majority believes that climate change is having a negative effect on agriculture production—particularly coffee production.
Our report on climate change perceptions and migration in Honduras is finally here!

Just incredible
💔 for my children: “The Trump administration has dismissed the hundreds of scientists and experts who had been compiling the federal government’s flagship report on how global warming is affecting the country.” www.nytimes.com/2025/04/28/c...
NEW: The total loss of NOAA’s office of Oceanic and Atmospheric Research —a nerve center of global climate science, data collection and modeling — represents a setback for climate preparedness that experts warn the nation may never recover from.

I’m on board with the sentiment, and I get that it rattles MAGA Republicans & exhilarates Democrats—but in the long run, does it actually help narrow the party polarization gap, or does it just make it worse?
