I switch between "I'm so privileged to work on the web for a living" and "this entire industry is cursed, I need to get out and never touch a keyboard again" a few times a month.

Premium Courses Expansive, high quality education to make you a better developer and designer. Join thousands of others in boosting your career opportunities.

I' m fairly sceptical about most courses.

But this @piccalil.li stuff - especially "JavaScript for Everyone" by @wil.to - is the real deal.

It will improve your entire understanding of JS, not just framework-specifics. That kind of stuff pays off for years!

Get. It. Now.

For extra realism, enable it at random every few weeks and give the user 3 "opt-out credits" per year

Short Answer: Fuck no.

Long Answer: If a company tries AI phrenology in their hiring process, they're guaranteed to do worse things once you work there. Don't.

Inside you there are two woffs.

Ignore the first woff. You just need the woff2.

A11y experts should start selling "Agentic AI Optimization" packages and just bring as many sites up to WCAG standards before the hype dies down ๐Ÿš€

Definitely. But sites that provide a service that's interesting to an AI agent (think booking engines and stuff) could see this as incentive to improve a11y. And (accidentally) make it better for humans too. Sad order of priorities though.

I wonder if that will make devs care more about a11y - to make it accessible for AI

Container queries and CSS make it simple to smoothly transition an element to the other side of its parent container without knowing exact dimensions or distance.

A Majora's-Mask-style "Dawn of The Final Day. 24 Hours Remain" title card, but using the JavaScript for Everyone Atari-style type and branding. The background is made up of two low-angle perspective views of rectangles on grids that meet at a sharp line, resembling a horizon.

This is it. 86,791 words. 836 emdashes. 625 `const`, 141 `let`, 16 `var`. One (1) reference to the pause music from Battletoads for the NES.

Spread the word: JavaScript for Everyone launches tomorrow.

You'd think that opting out once is all you need, surely no reasonable person would assume that Microsoft would randomly enable this feature again without consent, right?

A pragmatic guide to modern CSS colours - part one Whether you've got a firm grasp on modern CSS colour capabilities, or you're thinking 'I struggle to understand why I should use modern CSS colours at all', then the first part of this article series,...

OK @kevinpowell.co has written what has to be one of the best (if not THE best) practical article to #CSS colors I have read in a while. piccalil.li/blog/a-pragm...

Easy to read, practical examples, and *perfect* for someone like me who's fallen behind and hasn't kept up with all the new stuff.

"The girlfriend of one of the founders of antifa"

5 months ago 6 1 0 0

Feels like the same founder's mindset that values "the idea" above all else and thinks the implementation is just a detail that any nerd can do.

AI lets all these people play pretend until it eventually turns out the way things are built is pretty damn important
