Uh, so, I’ve been trying to manage chronic illness for months and lately it has made my hours at work bizarre…which means I just clocked in to find out that we were all fired.
I’m having a rough one.

State governments need to crack down on this blatant effort to expand misclassification.

I never understood how people could believe customer service is low-skill work bc I just saw a 20-year-old fast casual manager talk a ragey old man down and it was a fucking masterclass in patience and grace
we all know I have no life, so:
I came here to also shout my strong remembrance of George of the Jungle. Haven't seen it since the year it came out, but absolutely it is lodged in my brain box for life (complimentary).
At Mayor Wilson's State of the City address Friday, he again relied on anecdote -- not data -- to prove his response to homelessness is working.

Maybe we'll keep some InfoWars content up.
I agree and also know many cis women fighting to get their insurance to cover T so...it's all bad.
Happy National Library Workers Day to all who celebrate and unhappy to those who don't!
The good part about this at PDX is that you can get a slice of pizza and a beer for under 10 bucks.
Street pricing that's enforced, baby!
Okay, speculation time: do I find spending time at the airport not super terrible because PDX kicks fucking ass and that's generally where I will spend most of it overall?
Just had the somewhat dark realization that the only movie I have ever seen that made me feel like it was normal to have a belly as a woman was Different for Girls(1996) where Kim talks about the physical changes she's experienced as a transwoman.
"“They just up and said you have 90 days to move,” Helphinstine, 50, tells PEOPLE. “I have no idea what I'm going to do. I bought the mobile home so I could have somewhere to live. Now, I'm going to be homeless because I'm going to lose my home.”"
I'm not joking when I say mRNA technology is more important than "AI" and it's a tragedy we're throwing billions into one while our government is aggressively defunding the other.
Yousof Azizi, Iranian researcher, journalist, commentator and PhD candidate at @virginiatech.bsky.social with valid legal status, has been illegally detained by ICE. He was taken from in front of his home, has been denied access to a lawyer, and may be transferred to a detention center in Louisiana:

If this is Wilson’s passion, he could get a job with Portland Solutions and leave the job of mayoring to someone else.
For me, the mayor’s job is to effectively govern & administer the city. I’d argue he’s failing at this even on his own terms.
He made one major campaign promise & did not deliver.
A nearly seven-year-old state law requiring nonprofit hospitals to account for patient income and to provide financial support before collecting debts led to a significant reduction in the number of Oregonians racking up unpaid medical bills, according to a recent study.
The fact that Mamdani just seems like a cheerful normal guy who's policies are things like "we're going to tax second homes to fund pothole repairs" or whatever and yet this generates panicked responses like "This is basically Stalin's great purge turned up to eleven" is... telling. It tells things.
My last 3 doctors pulled this shit, turns out i'm insulin resistant and they should have been treating that. Instead of telling me my exhaustion was because I'm fat, not active enough, and - YUP! - wasn't effectively managing the stress of being poor and ill.
1. In a landmark ruling, the Montana Supreme Court has declared that the constitution, one of the most progressive in the nation, entirely protects transgender people.
The ruling is even insulated from SCOTUS decisions, due to how state constitutions work.

Transgender discrimination is, by its very nature, sex discrimination. Discrimination based on sex is expressly prohibited under Montana’s unique Nondiscrimination Clause––“[n]either the state nor any person, firm, corporation, or institution shall discriminate on account of . . . sex . . . .” Thus, Article II, Section 4 is unequivocal in its intolerance for discrimination based on sex. Because sex discrimination involves a fundamental right under Article II, the appropriate level of judicial review is strict scrutiny. Snetsinger, ¶ 17. ¶28 Being transgender is also a suspect class under the Equal Protection Clause of Article II, Section 4,––“[n]o person shall be denied equal protection of the law.”
MONTANA SUPREME COURT: “Transgender discrimination is, by its very nature, sex discrimination,” and is subject to strict scrutiny under the Montana Constitution.
If you've ever enjoyed Katelyn's work, now's a cool time to help her if you can because we all know how brutal vet bills can be.
She was granted withholding of removal from India *decades* ago, and had been living and working legally (including for the U.S. government!) ever since.
But with third country removals now a real option, TSA shared her data with ICE and they arrested her at the airport on her way to a job.
Portland-based architecture firm ZGF agreed to a $100 million contract to design the new ICE & DHS headquarters in Washington DC. Seems like a good reason to avoid doing business with them in future. meltoregon.noblogs.org/zgf-architec...
