Congress Must Allow D.C. to Spend Its Own Local Dollars Congressional Republicans, who last year barred the District of Columbia from spending $1 billion of its own revenue in its 2025 budget, are now moving to block another DC law.

Last year, congressional republicans barred DC from utilizing nearly $1 billion of its own revenue and attempting to block another.

This is not an Administration focused on deporting “the worst of the worst.”

We spend very little on DC Statehood. We’re not serious about becoming the 51st State.

Frustrating indeed. The council could also spend more on DC Statehood efforts so that we have a fighting chance of being represented in Congress. We currently spend 300k on becoming the 51st state. You get what you pay for.
