Merely operating the AK LNG pipeline, North Slope gas treatment, and the Nikiski liquefaction terminal would emit roughly 16 megatonnes per year of climate pollution — about 4 times the contribution of every car in Alaska. #KeepItInTheGround #ClimateCrisis

As the landowner, Cook Inlet Regional Inc. has primary authority over the future of the proposed Johnson Tract Mine. Given the project's severe local consequences, CIRI shareholders deserve to be fully informed and to have a meaningful opportunity to weigh in.
Inletkeeper, along with our partners and sponsors, offers this service on the Kenai Peninsula. Since 2004, this program has diverted more than 667,000 lbs. of electronic waste from our local landfills.
As long as the loophole remains open, our legislators can’t claim to have done even the minimum to sustain state services.
Continuing to hold oil & gas lease sales in lower Cook Inlet with zero industry interest is a blatant waste of taxpayers’ money.

BOEM’s own projections show little to no economically recoverable natural gas in federal Cook Inlet waters — meaning expanded leasing is unlikely to solve Southcentral Alaska’s local gas concerns.
Glenfarne isn’t disclosing the true costs of AK LNG and is using estimates that conceal significant subsidies to look competitive with other gas options. The Phase 1 AK LNG pipeline cost study excludes the LNG export terminal and the pipeline crossing under Cook Inlet.
Something that’s normally subtext became an unvarnished acknowledgement: federal policy consistently puts oil corporations first. Even when it makes no sense for anyone, including the oil corporations.
Now, the agency is planning multiple lease sales for Lower Cook Inlet in their new "revised" 5-year plan. It’s vital that we continue to speak up for our waters, sustainable fisheries, and what’s best for our local economies. Learn what happens next.

Expanding offshore drilling isn’t an energy solution — it’s political theatre with real risks for Alaska’s waters. The public comment period ends Jan 23. Speak up while you can.

Cook Inletkeeper is speaking out after a federal oil lease sale moved forward without meaningful public input. Lower Cook Inlet supports fisheries, subsistence, and tourism, but offshore drilling brings serious risk. Lease Sale 258 has a 1 in 5 chance of a major oil spill.

Being “pro-Alaska” means protecting communities and fisheries, not risky offshore oil plans backed by big industry. A federal proposal would open nearly all of Alaska’s coastline to drilling. Public comments close Jan 23 — speak up: inletkeeper.org/our-work/oil-gas-lease-sales/
“Pro-business” doesn’t mean backing ultra-rich mining execs over Alaskans. Bristol Bay’s salmon already power local jobs, culture, and communities. Pebble Mine puts it all at risk. 🐟
Salmon first.

Alaska's Red Dog Mine discharges treated wastewater into a nearby creek, where downstream dissolved particle levels are then diluted beyond specific limits set by state regulators. Dilution still isn't the solution to pollution. Nor is this "world-class resource management."

Inlet communities deserve transparency. Instead, we’re getting rushed lease sales that put ecosystems, wildlife, and local livelihoods on the line. Read more on our blog and join us in demanding better.
