The funds we have gathered so far — over $2,000! — will go a long way with covering basic needs of our colleagues, but every dollar counts. We know it’s a tough time right now, but if you have anything to spare, please contribute to the fund.

support NWLC staff - contribute to our mutual aid fund, which will be distributed to members of NWLC United who were laid off this year.
Our laid off colleagues are officially no longer with the Law Center as of last month, but we’re doing one last push to raise money to support them through our mutual aid fund.
We look forward to continuing this process, and we’re grateful for those of you who have already contributed to the mutual aid fund for our laid off colleagues. If you haven’t already, or if you have a little more that you can spare, you can visit the link below to donate.
As we continue the process of negotiating our successor contract, it is more important than ever to continue having these difficult conversations around accountability.
We understand the difficult financial moment that nonprofits are in right now. And while we appreciate management’s willingness to meet us at the table and provide more tangible support to our colleagues who were laid off, we remain disheartened by their leadership and actions that brought us here.
It's been one month since the National Women’s Law Center laid off 20% of staff.
We are proud to announce—thanks to the power of collective action—that the union was able to secure 3 additional months of COBRA health care coverage & 2 additional weeks of severance pay for our laid off unit members.
We will be sitting down at the table with management for impact bargaining soon, and we will have more updates to come. In the meantime, please support our colleagues in any way you can by donating to our mutual aid fund: venmo.com/u/nwlcunited
We will be fighting hard to make sure that our contract is followed and our colleagues are taken care of.

As a union, we are in solidarity with our members who were impacted by these layoffs and will support them—and our remaining members—as we navigate this transition. And we appreciate all of the support in doing so from our union, @nonprofitunion.bsky.social. #1u
These people are more than just our coworkers, and it is beyond devastating to lose their talent & commitment to advancing gender justice, given the current moment we are in.
One week ago—with half an hour of notice given to the union, and in the midst of bargaining for our second contract—the National Women’s Law Center announced it would be eliminating 20% of staff, laying off 32 of our colleagues (including 21 members of our unit).
More than 75 workers at the @carnegieworkers.bsky.social are joining the @nonprofitunion.bsky.social and have been fighting for voluntary recognition of their union since June 17.

Solidarity forever! Today, the union at @nwlc.org will sit down to kick off bargaining for our second contract. We couldn't be more excited to fight for our unit to get the best contract we possibly can. LFG!!✊
