"Mental toughness is often framed as the perseverance that gets you across the finish line,
but most days, mental toughness isn't about crossing the finish line. It's about getting to the starting line.

Theologian and philosopher Saint Augustine on doing what you can for who you know:

"Since you cannot do good to all, you are to pay special attention to those who, by the accidents of time, or place, or circumstances, are brought into closer connection with you."

An old Latin proverb, "Initium est dimidium facti", reminds us of the timeless importance of simply beginning the task at hand. It translates to:

"Once you've started, you're halfway there."

"Remain playful as your responsibilities increase. It's easy to become serious when people and results depend on you, but nearly everyone's performance improves when they proceed lightly through the world." - James Clear

Another key lesson I've learned from yoga that also applies to coding is just being happy were you are at, and enjoying the present moment. Maybe I can't reach my toes right now but it feels good to stretch.

"Success is largely the failures you avoid.

- Health is the injuries you don't sustain.
- Wealth is the purchases you don't make.
- Happiness is the objects you don't desire.
- Peace of mind is the arguments you don't engage.

Avoid the bad to protect the good."

Which distractions in your life have become disguised as priorities?

"The way to help someone is not to critique what makes them smaller, but to encourage what makes them larger." -James Clear

The Process:

1. Decide what you want to achieve.
2. Try different ways of achieving it until you find one that works for you.
3. Do more of what works. Do less of what doesn’t.
4. Don’t stop doing it until it stops working.
5. Repeat.

It is both this simple and this hard.

I had a great time today at #BankiBrunch, a daily coder's meetup at #100Devs. It turns out that Ajax turns 20 years this year, the web development technique by Jesse James Garret, used to send and receive data without interfering with the display.

"Every act of conscious learning requires the willingness to suffer an injury to one's self-esteem. That is why young children, before they are aware of their own self-importance, learn so easily; and why older persons, especially if vain or important, cannot learn at all."

I decided to parse through all 2278 comments in the discord resource channel of 100Devs so I can categorize and save these for later, this is how it's going. github.com/timlines/100...

You never know when you'll need that random resource on free svg's, online courses, or javascript tutorials.

Sometimes I feel like I only have one skill; perseverance.

"When you get into a tight place, and everything goes against you till it seems as if you couldn't hold on a minute longer, never give up then, for that's just the place and time that the tide'll turn."
