We had a fantastic time today in Psychology of Learning in STEM talking to Dr. Jerrod Henderson about engineering education. It was a "VIBE" and he made so many great connections for us to other research and important ideas around identity and belonging. 😍

How will I be graded? The past, present, and future of research on grading policies and student motivation in secondary and postsecondary education Classroom-level grading policies are crucial in shaping students’ academic motivation, yet educational psychologists for the most part have not studied their direct impact. Instead, most existing w...

Seems like we should know something about how grading affects motivation, right? Surprisingly, the research literature hasn't been synthesized - until now! Texas Tech System leader cancels academic programs “centered on” sexual orientation, gender identity Chancellor Brandon Creighton directed provosts to phase out the programs and ordered universities to recognize only “two human sexes.”

Texas Tech is expanding its prohibition on "gender and sexual orientation" topics to include faculty research and student theses and dissertations.

Our chancellor wants to censor the truth because he knows it topples the hateful ideology of MAGA.

Knowledge is power, so they plan to destroy it.

Share Your Story: Impacts of the Social, Behavioral and Economic Sciences (SBE) at the National Science Foundation (NSF) Following the release of the President's Budget Request (PBR) on April 3rd, NSF quickly and quietly took steps to begin to dismantle the SBE Directorate. The Federation of Associations in the Behavioral and Brain Sciences (FABBS) wants to hear about how the SBE Directorate at NSF has supported your research and career. Your stories help FABBS communicate to policymakers and the public what’s at stake when the federal government fails to fund critical sciences. We may follow up for clarification, but we will not share your name or institution publicly without your permission.

🚨 NSF is already quietly eliminating the SBE Directorate, despite Congress’ mandate that NSF support the behavioral & social sciences.

Steps to counter this are in motion.

If you
- have an SBE proposal under review
- serve on an SBE grant panel

COMMENTARY: Grades vs. learning: AI reveals the flaws in our education system In the current grade-focused incentive structure, students’ use of AI to perform better while learning less is entirely rational behavior.

"A need-supportive classroom doesn’t just reduce the appeal of AI misuse. It addresses why students were reaching for it in the first place: to escape a system that made them feel pressured, controlled and disconnected from any reason to care about learning." edsource.org/2026/rethink...
