Another backlit, kind of, photo with the crest glowing and the glob of orange pulp at the tip of her beak glowing.
Do cardinals eat oranges?
Yes!

An older screenshot of the Discovery page, showing the same ingredients as the newer example in the parent post.
The old version's crock pot choice highlight was very yellow.
Screenshots of a previous version, for reference
This seems like a good occasion to mention I recently did a big visual pass on my open source Don't Starve Food Guide
An osprey soaring through the air with the greatest of ease, a grey sky behind it.
A photo of the ospray when it was starting to dive, now with trees behind it instead of sky.
A wider cut of the main post's photo: an osprey scraping the surface of the water, with a trail of droplets behind it.
These were taken in 2023 during one of the few times I left my house. My telephoto lens was pretty beat up when I got it, but it was very cheap.
Was so thrilled to receive a copy of Bay Nature Spring 2026 issue. I created a close up of the Dodder plant and pickleweed interaction for the article "Sensing is Becoming" by Jules Litman-Cleper

I made a clone onto an old hard drive just in case, but I didn't test it in any way so hopefully nothing went wrong. The idea of the clone existing is comforting enough for me.
I spent some time ditching Windows on my main workstation/gaming PC after considering it for a few years. I'm using CachyOS for now, and everything has been pretty smooth. My original plan was to swap out the drive or add a second to keep Windows around, but I'd rather not buy a new SSD right now.
This is the only album I still own on CD, not counting the orchestral Super Smash Bros Melee soundtrack
I call this diatom ‘the sweetie wrapper’ because of how it twists. Helicotheca tamesis. Lovely.

Turkey Vulture with wings spread, preparing to kettle.
Go to the link to see some very detailed photos of Turkey Vultures, some amazing pictures of hummingbirds, and one exotic bird species that is pretty much only seen in Mexico and part of Arizona

A macro photo of the underside of the fluffy part of dandelion seeds still attached to the dandelion, while it's still in the process of transforming. They look sort of like a forest of tiny flowers with long, slender stems, and feathers instead of petals.

Jellyfish baby! This stage is called an ephyra, and this is what jellyfish look like after they’ve popped off their polyp (strobilation)! I’m pretty sure this is a moon jelly (Aurelia aurita) and I’d love to have someone confirm (or deny) this.

Another house finch(?), this one with a seed showing in its open mouth
Happy #Wingnesday
This house finch was having a midday snack in my yard
Look close to see the seed in his mouth
Protest the oligarchy and stand up for human rights
His color depends on his diet
With that, I end my @drbrianpet.bsky.social impression. For now.
Some are more red. Some are more orange. Some are a combination.
Here is a House Finch

He has some green gunk on the beak

Moments earlier. Always on the lookout.

A photo of a bird hanging onto the side of a glass birdfeeder, looking at the birdseed inside.
I know the seeds inside the glass look really appetizing, but it'd be easier to get the ones right below you

I have a release date now, and I've redone everything to some extent. Guess it's time to make a new trailer.
It's drop shadows all the way down. Inner drop shadows, outer drop shadows, stretched drop shadows...
