Wasn’t here yesterday - that’ll be one of only about half a dozen #Bluejays games I’ll miss this year - missed a good one!
#Jays have left themselves two tough acts to follow as they try to complete their first sweep of the season.
Looking forward to seeing what happens.

Dylan Cease makes his #Bluejays debut today and I wrote about what to expect from the $210 million man.
Added bonus - a video of @gregorchisholm.bsky.social and me talking #Jays on the field before the home opener is embedded in the story. Enjoy!
That was a pretty fun opening night.
And all the flashbacks to Game 7!
Second game in a row #Bluejays blow a one-run lead in the ninth, but this time (with the stakes substantially lower), they rally to win.
If Varsho’s ball in November had been hit where Gimenez’ was tonight…
Andres Gimenez walks it off!
A ground single up the middle scores Okamoto, giving #Bluejays a 3-2 win on opening night.
Jeff Hoffman gets the win.
Jeff Hoffman blows the save but also ties a #Bluejays record with four strikeouts in an inning, so he's got that going for him.
Ummmmmm......
#Bluejays
The first ABS challenge in #Bluejays history turns ball three into strike three on Nick Kurtz.
Kirk comes through.
With #Bluejays on top 2-1 through eight innings, Jeff Hoffman comes in to try to finish it off.
He'll face the top of #Athletics lineup, three hitters who combined for 92 home runs last season.
Tyler Rogers gets the 8st inning!
#Bluejays
Kazuma Okamoto gets an off-speed pitch and stays with it, reaching out and poking it into left field for his first major-league hit.
#Bluejays
Louis Varland gives up a single and a walk, but all a #Bluejays pitcher is going to have to do to get out of trouble this season is get a ground ball up the middle.
After a K of Brent Rooker, it's Clement to Gimenez to Vladdy. Inning over.
2-1 #Jays at stretch time.
Louis Varland takes over to begin top7 with #Bluejays leading #Athletics 2-1.
The 6-7-8 hitters are left-handed, so there's a chance we see Little or Fluharty in the 8th, but I suspect it'll be Varland to Rogers to Hoffman if things stay the same.
Kevin Gausman is likely done for the night after throwing 83 pitches in six innings.
In his first Opening Day start for #Bluejays, the righty was brilliant.
He retired 18 of the 19 hitters he faced, striking out a #Jays OD record 11. The only damage a Tyler Soderstrom homer.
It's absolutely Soderstrom's fault for not catching it, but if Clarke had taken charge it's an easy out.
Yup. But it's not unusual to see young players defer to veterans. This is Clarke's first Opening Day, after all.
Looks like Denzel Clarke, arguably the best CF in the game, let LF Tyler Soderstrom call him off on an Andres Gimenez line drive that Soderstrom then did not catch.
It's a two-run "triple," #Bluejays are up 2-1 bot5.
You?
Kevin Gausman strikes out Max Muncy (not that Max Muncy) for his 10th K of the night.
That's a #Bluejays opening day record.
#Jays trail 1-0 to bot5.
Making the playoffs is an achievement that deserves to be celebrated and marked.
The first #Bluejays hit of the 2026 season is a ground single to right field by Vladimir Guerrero Jr.
Very nice play by Okamoto coming in on Solderstrom's slow roller.
Even better play by Vladdy to snag the throw.
#Bluejays down 1-0 to bot4.
Kevin Gausman will not be perfect tonight.
#Bluejays starter retired the first 10 batters he faced, but Shea Langeliers just took him deep with 1out in top4.
In his first #MLB plate appearance, Kazuma Okamoto sees some serious velo from Luis Severino and can't catch up to it.
Yet. #Bluejays
Kevin Gausman strikes out the side in order on 15 pitches to begin #Bluejays 2026 season. #PunchingTickets
#Bluejays season begins with Kevin Gausman striking out Nick Kurtz, last year's AL Rookie of the Year and one of only three hitters in #MLB to post an OPS over 1.000.
Tonight's first pitches were just thrown by Ernie Whitt ('70s), George Bell ('80s), Pat Hentgen ('90s), Vernon Wells ('00s) and Jose Bautista ('10s).
Lovely.
