Clapton's guitar tone on the song is created using his 1964 Gibson SG guitar through a wah-wah pedal and a Marshall amplifier.
Cream's American record label, Atlantic, didn’t like the song but changed their mind when Booker T. Jones (of Booker T. & the M.G.'s,
It’s been the inspiration for millions of aspiring guitarists worldwide.
Bruce and Clapton attended The Jimi Hendrix Experience show at the Saville Theatre in London. After the concert, Bruce returned home and wrote the riff. Clapton later wrote the song's bridge & title.
This week’s #FridayFeeling #guitar post goes out to British rock band Cream and their iconic hit, “Sunshine of Your Love”. Written by Jack Bruce, Pete Brown & Eric Clapton, it was originally released on the album Disraeli Gears in November 1967, and as a single in January 1968.
a moment I’ll never forget.
It meant a lot to see him again in person.
#Tokyo
It was wonderful to reconnect with Canada’s Ambassador to Japan, Ian McKay, and his lovely wife Miyuki in Tokyo last week.
Ambassador McKay hosted the guitar exchange at the Canadian Embassy on Canada Day in 2022, when my stolen Gretsch was discovered here in Japan —

"The outcome of that," recalls Jack "was that the agency recommended we put together a compilation album from the catalogues of these artists. I suggested it would be better to go with something original. The first one we did was with Bobby Curtola and it was so successful they decided to do it
One of our dreams had been to do a Coke commercial. Ray Charles had done one and we thought it was cool. Jack brought The Guess Who to Toronto's Hallmark Studios to cut radio jingles for Coke incorporating the soft drink's signature slogan "Things go better with Coke!"
we were established television stars on the Winnipeg edition of CBC-TV's popular Let's Go show so The Guess Who was an obvious choice for the ad campaign. We were Canada's best-known group having cracked the American charts two years earlier with "Shakin' All Over."
"We developed this youth radio campaign whereby we decided to use younger spokespeople for our product. We did a series of radio commercials using Canadian acts & we ran them in 30, 60 & 90 second spots. The Guess Who was one of the acts we approached."
By the fall of 1967,
#MusicMonday Did you know The Guess Who once wrote jingles for Coca-Cola?
In 1968, Toronto-based musician and jingle-writer Jack Richardson got involved with The Guess Who while he was with McCann-Erickson, the advertising agency for Coca-Cola.
He said:

We made the Herzog around 1962 before there were any foot pedals.
If you’re curious about its sound, take a listen to American Woman or No Time by The Guess Who or Gimme Your Money Please, Stayed Awake All Night and Let It Ride by BTO. Rock on, everyone!

Continuing our gear chat, here I am with a Herzog unit. This was a two 12AX7 tube preamp invented by myself and Gar Gillies who built Garnet Amps in Winnipeg. This preamp with my ‘59 Les Paul into a Garnet Amp was the sound of American Woman. The result was called the “woman tone”.
#AskRandy You asked, we answered! The Garnet Herzog amp, how it created the legendary sound of The Guess Who songs "No Time" & "American Woman". My daughter Lorelei & son Briggs are on board for this post. Cheers! #roocknroll #gear amps guitarist @theguesswho
We did many festivals with them late into the 70's. Their music was simple in the best way, easy to follow along, really putting you into "the zone".
Sending love to his nearest & dearest today.
Other worlds to play in.

, they'd solo endlessly for 7 or 8 minutes. "PigPen" was their keyboardist, and would play the Hammond organ. So the whole band was very memorable with 2 great drummers, singers, guitarists & many more talented band members coming and going over the years.
#RIP to Bob Weir of The Grateful Dead, who has left us for music heaven today.⚡️
In the mid-late 60's, I was in New York and went to a club in Greenwich village and saw The Dead play. They were new-ish and they were a jam band. When they'd go into a song, it wasn't the standard 3.5 minute radio tune
Let's talk #guitar pedals with my son, Briggs. We're weeding out and will show you a few of the sounds & #guitarists who used them. This one is the Ibanez Tube Screamer. #rocknroll #blowthisup #music Ibanez Guitars
Starting the year thinking about all the incredible moments we shared last year. As we step into 2026, we’d love to hear from you: what would you love to hear from BTO this year?

created their own songs and sounds that forever changed the world.
I’m especially proud to now share the BTO stage with my son Tal who's keeping me rockin in Overdrive and for the fans who have been here since day one.
