Allbirds’ stock is insane on every time scale. Why did they IPO for a bajillion dollars? Why does anyone think now that they are well positioned to transition to AI?

Ugh, the AI slop picture of Trump as Jesus, Vance officiously hectoring the Pope, and now Hegseth quoting a luridly violent film in a prayer service. It’s just too much to take.

I think you're probably right, but I wonder if the way NASA handled Artemis could provide a way forward? Create a heartwarming story (many Americans love the Royal Family) and keep Trump out of it. The agenda sounds like lots of time away from the necessary State Dinner (Congress, NYC, etc)

WOW that’s a heck of a lineup. I don’t even live in the UK and I’m thinking of signing up! 😂

RDR2? I’ve also played Skyrim and Resident Evil 4. But yeah, my top 10 looks rather ancient by comparison.

I doubt that Pope Leo XIV will lose any sleep over this, before he begins his pilgrimage to Africa tomorrow. But the rest of us should. Because it is unhinged, uncharitable and unchristian. Is there no bottom to this moral squalor?

It’s a great moment to remember that in the leadup to this popular uprising, the first major gut-punch was delivered by Budapest Pride. Poetic justice. 🇭🇺🏳️‍🌈

Hungary has chosen Europe.

Europe has always chosen Hungary.

A country reclaims its European path.

The Union grows stronger.

There is a staggering gap between Trump's confidence in his extraordinary talents, so that a great power's strategy can be safely left to his mood of the moment, and the harsh reality of his limited grasp of the meaning of the events unfolding around him. As he starts from the assumption that there is none more powerful, his default tactics always involve bullying. When the targets are unresponsive all he can do is either double down, with ever more lurid threats, or else move on, as if there was never an issue, without acknowledging defeat.

Essential reading, as always. This captured something I noticed listening to NPR cover the ceasefire. They quoted Trump’s blather that the 10 point plan was a solid basis for negotiation as a reason for optimism when even a moment’s inspection revealed it was Iran’s maximalist starting point.

I don't really understand the ins and outs of the US oil market, but I don't think supply can be instantaneously massively ramped up. So if all those tankers come and fill up with US oil, and take it away, doesn't it make domestic fuel prices go up?

Melania Throws Donald Under the Bus And just like that, the Epstein files are back in the news.

"Melania chose not to include any assertion of her husband’s innocence in the Epstein affair.

Melania is no fool. And now she seems to think that the man to whom she hitched herself may be going down. She’s trying to arrange not to go down with him."
