"The world turns, doesn't it? Collapse over here—if you remember COVID-19—is just a timing difference. It'll get there soon enough. There are no margins in a globalized economy, and margin calls come for us all." ~ indrajit samarajiva

checking in to these bland blue skies to make sure at least one or two people are reposting prof marandi....
actually the opposite is true since more whales means a healthier ocean ecosystem.
close but no cigar, melville.
i think as editorial director you probably have the ability to publish a nonpaywalled piece...
better take: bsky.app/profile/ilha...
Abolish ICE.
There’s no reforming it.
There’s no compromise.
There’s only one way to rein in ICE’s terror campaign. Abolish it.
RIP, @wildwoods.bsky.social 💔🌳🌲
as usual, i agree with the diagnosis ("reality is here") but not the proposed cure ("civil society needs to step up and demand political leadership that will confront the interconnected crises that are unravelling before us").
yes, as NP i do think in terms of diagnosis/cure/care :)
The parents of Alex Pretti have retained a former federal prosecutor who helped Minnesota's attorney general convict the police officer who kneeled on George Floyd's neck of murder. https://to.pbs.org/3ZA2HfU
I’m not sure people outside the Twin Cites realize the prevalence and the fear ICE is causing in Twin Cities. They are dining undercover pretending to be couples at restaurants, they are going to businesses and checking the license plates of cars to find employees. Every public place is compromised.
I pray I live long enough to see these people brought to some kind of justice. I need there to be a hell. Something.
1. US kidnaps sitting president of venezuela & his wife
2. right on cue, anne applebaum demonizes govt of venezuela
The Democrats’ non-opposition is really the foundation of the fascists’ power. It’s like a moat of demoralizing incoherence between Trump and the millions of people who would prefer not to live under his dictatorship.
There’s no platform. Just a (D) brand as a foil to (R), a brand about being smart
horrible. US, like isrl, acts with total impunity.
A hardcover copy of There Is No Place for Us: Working and Homeless in America by Brian Goldstone. The black cover features a vertical strip with the title and a photo of Atlanta’s skyline.
After many years of reporting and writing, the day is finally here: THERE IS NO PLACE FOR US is out today.
I poured everything into this book, and I hope it ignites outrage at the fact that so many people in the richest nation on earth have been deprived of one of the most basic human necessities.
UK security forces used force to silence peaceful protesters, tearing the Palestinian flag from their hands as they stood against Israel’s genocidal war on Gaza and those complicit in it.
Someone please tell the New York Times, which today listed one of Trump's major 'accomplishments' as a 'fragile ceasefire' in Gaza. What a travesty. There is no ceasefire, as much as American media pretends otherwise.
People keep mistaking genuine horror for politicking.
The people who supported the DOJ under Biden/Trump condone child rape. They defended officials who protected child rapists.
Other people saw this as a clear moral horror and condemned the DOJ. That's the actual divide. It's not between parties.
it's worth rewatching her poignant video, too: the silent war on trees

“This place is being touted as the epicenter of the energy revolution, the data revolution, the tech revolution,” said Kyle Roerink, the executive director of the Great Basin Water Network, which works to protect water resources in the region. “But they’re never going to be making water.”
The silence of the nurses
No nurses have been included in the health ministry’s primary care advisory group. Multiple nurse leaders have written to the minister expressing concern, but have received no reply. Why is the experience of nurses so rarely acknowledged? #nzpol
