📣 A public inquiry into the proposed gold mine in the Sperrins — supposedly for the public, but not giving them time or opportunity to respond to key evidence

4/The climate is now changing in a way that is bringing us out of the hospitable, stable period which has allowed the development of modern farming- bad news for farmers which is bad news for everyone
I don't often think Matt Cooper is dead wrong, but I certainly do on his call to scrap carbon taxes, which, apart from being a terrible idea, would also hand the far-right "protestors" a massive win and embolden them for future chaos.

Open letter from 16 organisations to Minister O'Brien calling on him to urgently halt the Government’s interventions to legislate exemption from climate obligations for the Dublin Airport cap.

I sat through a wonderful concert tonight that had only two parts of a trio - the petrol pumps are dry - and I realised that if *this* is the trigger that convinces Irish people to switch to EVs, the irony would be exquisite.
“Red meat is actually very good for human health” says health expert/CEO of Dawn Meats, Niall Browne.
Browne is just as completely, delusionally wrong about land-use impacts of plant-based diets vs meat, but hard to get a man to understand something when his salary depends on not understanding it.
Nooses. Death threats.
Some of these “protesters” like the ones who wrote this sign are fascists itching for violence.
Absolutely abhorrent.
Madness. Approving a motorway in a climate crisis.
Roads don't reduce traffic, they create it.
It's induced demand: build it, they will drive.
Meanwhile, public and active transport get sidelined. More emissions. More inactivity. More locked-in carbon.
We're pouring concrete on a burning planet.
¡Viva España!
I'm struggling to process the layers of irony here.
Fuel price protestors, blockading roads and fuel depots, have caused more disruption than a war in the Middle East that stopped a good share of global oil trade.
Just when we thought it couldn't get worse:
New law means major energy projects won't be checked for their climate impact
They're ramming through laws so they can ram through climate-wrecking projects
and undermining our legislative system in the process

If #climate protesters had ever caused even a fraction of the disruption now being experienced across Ireland, there would likely be calls by now from rural TDs for the return of the death penalty.

🚲🚶♀️🚌 As we're rightly reminded by our Govt, our journeys count in climate emergency.
⚠️ But they seem to have forgotten flying less! www.

We know they're busy trying to remove ANY airport limits, so we've taken time to rectify this bizarre omission
In 2024, 24 GHG permits were issued by the EPA to data centre operators in Ireland for diesel generators. These permits are for facilities with thermal input >20 MW, the equivalent energy to power 13,000–16,500 homes.
Will DCs be asked to conserve energy?

We can use this crisis for good.

We do not have to double down on fossil fuels. We can choose a different path.
My piece in the Journal this week.
A blustery day with sunny spells and rain. We had all that during our presence outside the Dáil today! We think we're now actually at week 382 - hard to keep track! #NoMoreDataCentres #KeepIrelandLNGFree #KeepThePassengerCap #ClimateAction #ClimateJustice @darraghobrientd.bsky.social
Week 379 (despite what the sign says😀) and it was lovely to have @magdalenasedlmayr.bsky.social join us. Great outreach today! #KeepIrelandLNGFree #NoMoreDatacentres #KeepDublinAirportPassengerCap
Week 378. Some of our signs showing a lot of wear and tear. Would be nice if we didn't need them any more. But the way it is, seems like our Government is trying to INCREASE emissions - between LNG, data centres & airport expansion! Contact your elected representatives to demand they ActOnClimate!
Week 377 and it was great to join up with
@foeireland.bsky.social 's data centres protest and to have
@ciaranahern.bsky.social step in to show support.
Week 376. Blue skies above. #KeepIrelandLNGFree #KeepThePassengerCap #ClimateJusticeNow

Protesting for climate justice outside Dáil Éireann
Week 375 demanding climate action @darraghobrientd.bsky.social #NoLNG #KeepThePassengerCap
Hope everybody is okay. This happened just after our protest for safer streets in Cabra. It underlines the need for safe cycling and walking infrastructure.
Ireland No. 1 in Europe - yet again. GHGs rose faster (+3.2%) in Ireland in Q3 2025 than ANYWHERE else in Europe.
#Climate action, my eye.

Week #374 We managed to escape a downpour! Increasingly erratic weather is part & parcel of the climate crisis that our Govt seems intent on making worse - with plans to abolish the Dublin airport passenger cap, build fossil fuel import terminals, support of nitrates derogation etc.
Last year, we urged the Irish government to introduce a nationwide ban on fossil fuel advertising.
They chose not to act.
But across the globe, cities and countries are stepping up—reclaiming the narrative and taking bold action.
Ireland, meanwhile, remains a climate laggard.

Head 12 Exemption from the Act of 2015 Provide that: Any function or exercise undertaken under this Act shall be exempt from the provisions of section 15 of the Act of 2015. Explanatory Note This Head provides that the provisions of section 15 of the Climate Action and Low Carbon Development Act 2015 do not apply to any functions or exercises undertaken under this Bill.
An appalling proposal is hidden at the end of the Government’s Bill on the airport cap; it would exclude decisions under the legislation from the current obligation on almost all public bodies to consider their climate impact and to be consistent with climate objectives.
Our action going totally viral on Twitter news right now!
We will not let the oil industry rest.
They are suffocating our planet. They are fuelling war. They are supporting genocide in Palestine.
