Progressives Outraged Over Booker, Democrats’ Vote on Prescription Drugs From Canada - Roll Call Progressives in the Democratic Party are outraged after 13 Democrats voted against an amendment that would have allowed Americans to buy cheaper prescription drugs from Canada, saying it’s a sign that...

A reminder that it is sometimes tough to hear Democratic Senators who say the right things, but vote the wrong way. Action matters, words less so.

The attack on transgender athletes is a trial subscription to your willingness to excuse segmenting and obliterating a very small group of people to get you used to it. Because of what's planned next.

In a very literal sense, united we stand, divided we perish.

At the college level, there are estimated to be around fewer than 10 trans athletes in the US. A certain group of people would like to other them, because if they can get you to do that, well, the next group is easier, and then easier after that, until it's your neighbor. And then it's you.

DOGE recommended firing workers at:

-FDA, which oversees Neuralink

-FAA, which oversees SpaceX

-USAID, which probed Starlink

-CFPB, which oversees Tesla's financing arm and a potential payment platform on X.

"Conflict of interest" is a severe understatement.

Maybe I wasn’t clear about this. I wanted more egg and no plane crash, not many plane crash and no egg.

1/ OK, Democratic members of Congress in the US Senate. It’s time for some tough love.

I am aware your pollsters and consultants tell you things like “the American people want us to work together” and “ focus on prescription drug prices in the economy.”

Spirit Airlines is offering 500 bonus points if you sign up for their program. That's equivalent to almost $3. Not quite the most attractive offer.

"We didn't remove the comment" is a common refrain now on reported hate speech on Facebook. Moderation has fallen off a cliff, and it's a slow march towards where Twitter has gone. I do wonder how digital advertisers will respond to their ads appearing next to slurs and hateful material on Facebook.

Just finished taking a peek at Facebook after the week away. My feed is choked with Trumpian nonsense a few friends justifying Elon's Nazi salute. One commenter said, "And really, was Adolf Hitler a bad guy. Time magazines Man of the Year 1937 certainly didn't think so".

I regret visiting the site.

She is correct - community *is* the antidote to despair. It is critical that we lean into community for both mutual aid and survival.

Does America have an opposition party or not? When offered the choice between Republican and Republican Lite, the voter will choose the prior over the latter most of the time. Please let the electorate know when you've managed to locate a Democrat with an intact spinal column.

I've built communities with hundreds of millions of monthly active users. To continue they require stability, safety, and activity. Sense of belonging makes them stick and discovery makes them grow. As Meta blackout week comes to a close, just how many of these are now missing from Facebook?

I don't understand many of my liberal acquaintances who, despite all evidence to the contrary, continue to think appealing to a sense of decency or shame by Trumpist politicians will have any effect. They will do what they can, what can be gotten away with, and little else matters.

Not updated - but executive orders are just that. What is done by executive order can be undone by executive order. Trying to be very objective about it, it's a lot of flash and theater so far.

Image of a large galaxy on the right, with two smaller companion galaxies to the left. The large galaxy is ring-shaped, with an oval outer ring, and a small, off-center oval inner ring. The rings and space between are lit with blue plumes and dots. The companion galaxies to the left, one above the other, are much smaller than the main galaxy, and about the same size as each other. The galaxy above has similar coloring and many of the same features as the large ring galaxy, but more of a disturbed s-shape, with no distinct rings. The galaxy below is brighter with a whiter tinge. It has a diffuse spiral shape with a white core similar to that of the ring galaxy, but with a smoother texture. The background is full of more distant, orange-red colored galaxies of various shapes and sizes.

At the center of the image is a horizontal orange cloud known as Herbig-Haro 46/47 that is uneven with rounded ends, and tilted from bottom left to top right. In the middle of this cloud is a yellow-white blob with 8 reddish pink diffraction spikes piercing through it. The left lobe of the cloud is thicker. Just off the edge is a tiny red arc that curves in the opposite direction. The right lobe is thinner, and ends in a smaller orange semi-circle that has a faint purple outline. Just off the edge of this lobe is a slightly smaller orange sponge-like blob. A delicate, semi-transparent blue cloud known as a nebula drifts toward the top of the image and peters out toward the left of the frame. Toward the right and bottom, the nebula ends in a soft ridge set off in a translucent orange. The background is filled with stars and galaxies. Two foreground stars with blue diffraction spikes, seen in the bottom right corner, are especially prominent.

A field of galaxies on the black background of space. In the middle is a collection of dozens of yellowish galaxies that form a foreground galaxy cluster. Among them are distorted linear features, which mostly appear to follow invisible concentric circles curving around the center of the image. The linear features are created when the light of a background galaxy is bent and magnified through an effect called gravitational lensing. A variety of brightly colored, red and blue galaxies of various shapes are scattered across the image, making it feel densely populated.

Red dual opposing jets coming from young stars fill the darker top half of the image. At bottom center is a glowing pale yellow, cave-like structure, its top tilted toward two o’clock, with a bright star at its center. The dust of the cave structure becomes wispy toward eight o’clock. Above the arched top of the dust cave, 3 groupings of stars with diffraction spikes are arranged. A dark cloud sits at the top of the arch of the glowing dust cave, with one streamer curling down the right-hand side. The dark shadow of the cloud appears pinched in the center, with light emerging in a triangle shape above and below the pinch, revealing the presence of a star inside the cloud. The largest jets of red material emanate from within this dark cloud, thick and displaying structure like the rough face of a cliff, glowing brighter at the edges. At top center, a star displays another, larger pinched dark shadow, this time vertically. To the left of this star is a more wispy, indistinct region.
